Audubon International: Your Club’s Environmental Affairs Department
Audubon International is a nonprofit environmental education organization dedicated to protecting and sustaining the natural environment where people live, work and play. For more than ten years, Audubon International and CMAA have worked in partnership together to educate, assist, and inspire club managers to become stewards of the environment. Through a set of programs, services, projects and educational resources, Audubon International can serve your club as an environmental resource — helping to lead to reduced operating costs, increased revenue, and an improved image and reputation.
Take Action Today! Here’s How:
Enroll as a member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program.
Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Programs promote improved environmental performance through an education and certification process. Participation will help you plan, organize, implement and document a comprehensive environmental management program and receive recognition for your efforts. Not sure if you’re already enrolled? Contact Audubon International at acss@auduboninternational.org or call (518) 767-9051, extension 12, to find out.
Conduct a self-audit of your club through the Full Facility Environmental Audit.
The Audit is an internal, self-assessment or evaluation that uses standard environmental management practices to measure overall environmental performances. The Audit provides a simple, inexpensive means to evaluate current management practices. It can also be used as a set of guidelines to help you plan and establish appropriate environmental strategies.
Have Audubon International staff conduct an Eco-Efficiency Site Audit for your club.
Audubon International provides on-site consultation leading to improved environmental and immediate economic benefits at golf courses, residential communities, and all types of buildings and grounds. For a fee, Audubon International staff will visit your site, conduct a thorough environmental assessment of your grounds and facilities, and work with you to identify ways to improve the environmental performance of your entire facility, leading to reduced operations costs.
Learn more about the environment and the effects clubs have on the environment.
Audubon’s Web-based education materials — e-Source — offers environmental information and definitions to better familiarize yourself with terminology. More information specific to the club industry is available at the Golf and the Environment Web site. The site is dedicated to the game of golf and the protection and enhancement of our natural environment.
Have your chapter or club host an Audubon educational seminar and/or training session on the business value of environmental stewardship.
Audubon International (AI) provides on-site education, training and seminars tailored to meet the needs of club managers and staff. AI educators and trainers are available for a fee to assist your club or chapter to become better stewards of the environment.
Involve your golfers and club members through the Audubon Green Golfer Club.
Show your support for environmental excellence on your golf course by having your club members take the “Environmental Etiquette for Golfers” Pledge and become an Audubon Green Golfer. Audubon International is working with The PGA of America and the USGA to promote environmental stewardship with golfers — becoming a Green Golfer is one easy way to get involved.
Become a member of the Conservation Country Club.
The Conservation Country Club was established by Audubon International to help provide additional financial support for the golf and environment programs, services and initiatives. Help support their efforts by joining the Conservation Country Club.
Enroll your golf course in the Audubon GolfRewards™ Program
Through a partnership with Franchise Payments Network (FPN) and the American Ecotourism Association, golf courses can now join the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for free when agreeing to have FPN take care of all the club’s credit card transactions. |
