2008 Conference Education General Information

As with past Conferences, a large number of educational opportunities will be available at the 2008 Conference in Orlando. More than 80 education sessions are planned including Pre- and At- Conference Workshops, three-hour seminars and 90 minute sessions. Topics have been carefully selected to meet the current needs and interests of managers and to include all of the nine competency areas.

Programs 90 minutes in length will earn participants 1.5 CMI Education credits per session and three-hour sessions will earn 3.0 CMI Education credits. By attending a session in each available time slot, managers can earn as many as 24 Education credits. An additional 12 CMI Education credits can be obtained by attending two Conference Workshops.

To avoid conflicts with the Golf Industry Show (Friday & Saturday) and the Opening Business Session (Saturday), workshop sessions will be offered as follows:

Friday, February 1, 2008, from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, February 2, 2008, from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. and 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Attendance at education sessions is limited to registered managers and students. Spouses and purveyors will be permitted if space is available.

Education Credits and Evaluation Cards

As we approach the opening of our 81st World Conference on Club Management in Orlando, we would like to take this time to remind attendees of this unique opportunity to earn credits toward the CCM designation or the Certification Maintenance Requirement (CMR). Attendance/evaluation cards are available at all education sessions and are used to record attendance so that Education credits can be issued to individuals who attend the entire session.

Unfortunately, CMAA is often unable to issue credit because the attendance cards are not filled out correctly. Since the cards are read by machine, cards with errors are rejected. Often, attendees lose credits because we cannot interpret the information provided on the card (i.e., incorrect member number, no name, no session number, etc.). Please pay particular attention to filling out these cards correctly and completely so you receive the credits you deserve.

Checklist for Ensuring You Receive Proper Credits:

  • Use a pencil – The scanner is much more sensitive to pencil markings. If you must use a pen, DO NOT use red ink.
  • Session number – Write the number at the top of the box and completely darken the corresponding ovals.
  • Member number – Write your member number (it will be on your badge) and completely darken the corresponding ovals. Remember, your member number consists of seven numbers - zeros preceding the other numbers are part of your number (i.e., if your number is 1234, on the card it would be written as 0001234).
  • Name – Print your name and the session title at the top of the card.
  • Evaluate the session – Completely darken the appropriate ovals for the four areas to be evaluated.
  • Recommendation – Completely darken the appropriate oval.
  • Comments – On the back of the card, we look forward to your comments concerning the session.

We want to provide you with the best educational opportunities available. You make this happen by recommending or not recommending sessions you have attended. If the majority likes the session and speaker, we will bring him/her back.

Please take a few minutes near the end of each session to carefully complete an attendance/evaluation card — it benefits CMAA members and it benefits you.
