2007 Chapter of the Year Honors
Three outstanding chapters were honored at the 81st World
Conference on Club Management in Orlando, FL, in February.
Many chapters worked hard to fill the top spots, a fact that
was reflected in the close races in each of the chapter categories
of large, medium and small. However, only one chapter in
each size category was able to earn the title of 2007 Chapter
of the Year, and the top honors went to:
- Large Metropolitan
- Medium Upper
Midwest
- Small New
York State
Congratulations to these chapters on
this time-honored achievement! To reward the winning chapters’ efforts, each is eligible
to receive a CMI-endorsed grant for $1,000 sponsored by The
Club Foundation. All three chapters were also recognized
at the Managers’ Award Luncheon in Orlando with individual
trophies to take home to their chapters. Each of the three
chapter’s names will also be engraved on the overall
Chapter of the Year trophy, which is displayed at the CMAA
National Headquarters.
It must not go unmentioned that there were many outstanding
entries. While all chapters are automatically entered into
this award program, only those chapters submitting a Chapter
President’s Résumé are eligible to win.
(Twenty chapters across all size categories submitted the
Chapter President’s Résumé for the 2007
competition.) It is with this piece that the judging committee
is better able to recognize the unique accomplishments of
each chapter. Unique and impressive accomplishments were
abundant – all CMAA members should be proud of the
level of excellence that exists within the Association’s
chapter system.
2007 Chapter of the Year Scoring
The following is a list of score totals
for each chapter. Chapters that did not enter a Chapter
President’s Résumé have
had 50 points deducted from their total score. An asterisk
denotes those chapters submitting the Chapter President’s
Résumé. Questions about your chapter’s
score may be directed to the Chapter/Member Services Department
at the National Headquarters. Please note that information
may only be given about your chapter. Comparisons are not
possible ¾ simply suggestions on areas of improvement.

General Entry Information
Each year, all CMAA chapters are automatically entered into
this award program. Scores are based on chapter educational
efforts and CMAA activities/involvement (from November 1
through October 31). Chapter Presidents are asked to supplement
their entries with a Chapter President’s Résumé for
additional point value. While the Résumé is
not a requirement for entry into the award program, a chapter
cannot win unless they have submitted one. It is with this
piece that the judging committee is better able to recognize
the unique accomplishments of each chapter. There is no other
way to note the special programs and services your chapter
provides to members and the Association alike. This overview
can also serve as a way to record your chapter’s happenings
for the future and is a great foundation for chapter archives.
Entry information for the 2008
Chapter of the Year competition will be mailed
to Chapter Presidents in September. Please remember
to give your chapter a chance for the top prize by submitting
a Chapter President’s Résumé along
with completing the Questionnaire that is included in
the mailing. Entries for 2008 will be due no
later than December 1, 2008.
