Our winter
squash league results are reported via e-mail
to our webmaster, and then posted on the
Club’s website for all participants
to view. This sparks interest in the program
and also allows members to keep tabs on who
is playing, how well, and how timely they’ve
been in completing their rounds. All of this
can be seen from any location with web access,
participants do not have to wait until they
are at the Club to check standings.

Sending a
technician or engineer to every guest room
to ensure televisions and cable reception
is working properly is expensive and labor-intensive.
The use of Slingbox devices distributed throughout
the cable television network makes uptime
verification quick, easy, and efficient. |

We installed
a moveable projector screen in our board
room. A small metal track with wheels was
placed in the ceiling so the screen can roll
the entire length of the wall. This allows
the room to be set up many different ways.
The track is hidden behind wood molding. |

The Club
creates two-minute videos using in-house
equipment and editing software to promote
upcoming club events, dining room specials,
ect. These videos are placed on the Club’s
website for member viewing. Similar to a
virtual tour, the viewers are able to enter
the kitchen, dining rooms, and event rooms
with chefs and managers. |

in the Westhampton Grill. Management receives
reports straight to their Blackberry devices,
which relate data including covers, sales,
and average per cover, historical numbers,
weather, staff, and comments on the evening.
This instant information can be used to help
alert management of either pleased or displeased
members. |

We were searching
for an alternative for a backpack sprayer
when one of our employees came up with the
idea to build a cart. It saves time because
employees using the cart do not have to stop
pushing in order to spray. It is also easier
to use because they do not have to tote it
by hand or on their back. |

Thanks to
the need for photos to keep the website fresh,
we have some lovely photos of the clubhouse
and grounds. There has been some interest
on the part of the members in purchasing
enlargements. We have opened a “photo
store” on the web, and are offering
a selection of professionally printed photos
in several sizes, matted and signed. |

A motorized
fan set up at the salad bar station in a
casual beach dining restaurant is very effective.
Now the employees do not have to wave a towel
around. |

The idea
of a board member blog has increased communication
and helped to keep board members informed
year round. The concept has made for more
efficient and effective communication. Previously,
communication was one email at a time or “cc’d” to
many. The trouble was that board members
could not necessarily see how each person
was responding and then add to the string.
With a blog, a person can read and post much
easier, and the communication now moves along
with greater clarity. |

Members rely
on the Granite Club website to obtain information
regarding club events, news, and schedules.
The original website was in need of redesign
to make it more user-friendly and streamlined.
It now includes an interactive calendar that
lets members quickly learn what events are
happening each day. It is easier to find
specific information and to reserve online.
Recent photographs, scores, and events are
updated daily. In addition, emergency information
such as weather conditions and power outages
can immediately be communicated through the
website. |

Geocaching
is a popular modern spin on an old-fashioned
idea- the map and compass race. It is a GPS-based
treasure hunt, wherein our club members compete
to collect stamps from all of the “caches” or
treasure boxes hidden around Mountain Air
property. The one-day program is a fun, competitive
social event that builds team spirits in
families and groups of friends. We also use
our geocaching course for employee team-building,
and as an orientation tool. |
