14 - Renovations Program
The
Kansas City Country Club
Gregory Webb
We took the
proposed floor tile for our new Pool Café and
tested it for clean-ability using commonly
spilled material such as ketchup and mustard.
This allowed us to be comfortable with the
architects’ recommendation, and to
prepare housekeeping with the knowledge they
would need to clean the floors effectively.

In 2007,
The Fort Worth Club completed a $5.5 million
renovation of its member dining floor, which
updated and enhanced over 15,000 square feet
of the facilities. Four new member dining
rooms were created, each with its own unique
concept that caters to different segments
of the membership. |

The renovation
of the 10th tee was a necessity. Although
the concession building was functional, it
was not serving its full potential. Being
a traditional club, it was decided that the
new structure would resemble the original
clubhouse (built in 1895). Now it is able
to be used for outdoor functions and outings. |

We started
brewing a compost tea with nematodes. The
nematodes attack Japanese beetle grubs, thus
reducing our pesticide exposure to our members
and environment. We have success with this
organic program while also saving money on
our chemical budget. |
