remodel your kitchen areas, don’t throw
away your old equipment. We donate old equipment
to local organizations that train handicapped
individuals new skills that can be used to
help them become more independent. This equipment
is set up in their business and used to teach
culinary skills.

When the
Recycling Method for Vegetation is implemented
it will eliminate the golf course maintenance
employee’s trips to the dump, and will
save our club money. When the shredded debris
is blown back into the woods, then it becomes
an environmentally friendly way to dispose
of the plant/tree debris. The dump becomes
more manageable.

We converted
a retired ball washer into a golf club cleaner.
The Club saved approximately $900 on doing
so. The converted model is almost identical
to the retail models available. We added
padding around the edges to prevent scratching
of the clubs. The washer saves money and
protects the environment by converting a
large piece of non-recyclable equipment.

and operate out of an environmentally friendly “green” maintenance
facility. This L.E.E.D. certified building
has helped us gain acceptance and approval
from our local community, as well as setting
a new standard in the golf industry.

a full recycling program at our Club and
reduced the amount of trash by 70%. Recycling
is cheaper then dumping, and we recycle everything
we can. |

Use non-flowering
plants in outdoor dining and pool areas to
beautify the space without the need for pesticides.
The use of foliage texture and color, rather
than flowers, to beautify outdoor dining
and pool areas reduces the number of bees
and other stinging insects attracted to these
areas. Eliminating flowers during the seasons
of use increases member comfort and reduces
or eliminates the need for bee/wasp spray. |

The Granite
Club has a strong commitment to the sustainable
management of its natural resources. This
year the Club was recognized for its effort
in implementing indoor and outdoor conservation
projects and providing a sanctuary for wildlife
on the property while preserving the region’s
natural heritage. This achievement resulted
in Audubon International designating the
Granite Club a Certified Audubon Cooperative
Sanctuary. |
