Masters Jam
is an exercise program developed for seniors.
It has enhanced the club by reaching out
to our senior members, so that they too can
benefit from exercise through activities
that are at a fitness level they are capable
of performing.

The junior
tennis Fun Night was developed to enhance
the Junior Tennis Program. The program gets
kids active and gives parents time to enjoy
the club. It involves existing children in
the program, as well as new faces. Approximately
15-20 children generally attend. We provide
music, games, lots of tennis, and serve pizza. |

During the
summer, participation in the Fitness Center
generally slows down. By creating a sampler,
we sell a package to the membership at a
discounted price, allowing them to “sample” many
different types of programs that we offer.
Members get the opportunity to cross-train
and find a new fitness niche. Participation
has increased and the trainers have gained
long-term clients. During the winter we offer
the “Christmas Stocking Sampler.” |

The idea
for the Autumn Festival came from the growing
popularity of fitness. We decided to have
a bike and road race, walk and family bike
ride. By having several different fitness
activities, the event was open to all ages
and levels. Breakfast and activities for
children were also added to generate more
interest. |

We have started
a pre-natal yoga class for mothers-to-be.
It has become very popular and we have had
many requests to continue it throughout the
year. We are also adding a post-natal and “yoga
with your baby” element to the class.
The Fitness Center continues to meet the
ever-changing needs of our members. |

Our Spa Chautauqua
uses locally grown organic products from
Mountain Farm. Developed by a nurse and organic
farmer, it brings the spa experience “home.” There
are no artificial colors or fragrances used
in any of the products. The products are
used in the locker rooms and by the spa therapists. |

We held a
mock triathlon that was on dry land and spinning
bikes. The event was structured so that participants
got a “feel” for participating
in a real triathlon. Everyone completed
a mock swim, which consisted of floor exercises
such as push-ups. A transition area was set
up for shoes/socks to be put on before moving
to the spinning bikes for an “all-terrain
bike race” led by an instructor. After
spinning for 40 minutes, each participant
headed back to the transition area to exchange
bike shoes for running shoes and put on a
race number. A short run completed the event. |

Host an open
practice for an event with registration so
that members will receive tailored instruction.
At the start of our Fall USTA mixed doubles
season we created an open practice for all
of our mixed doubles players. The hour and
a half long practice was open to all Farmington
players. It was a combination of drills to
work on specific skills and match play. After
practice the members were encouraged to stay
and socialize with each other. |
