We made a
vehicle accident report kit for each Club
vehicle. We inserted a disposable camera,
a pencil, three witness cards, and an instruction
sheet in a Ziploc bag. These kits make it
easier for our drivers to record all the
pertinent information needed by our insurance
company in the event of an accident.

Mobile hand
sanitizers: This is great for kids when we
have animals at our Easter petting zoo. Hand
sanitizers are mounted to a PVC pole with
a concrete base to keep it from tipping over. |

To kick off
the summer season, the aquatics department
offered a Water Safety Day for our members.
With volunteers from local fire and rescue
departments, the Coast Guard, and our own
lifeguards, the interactive event highlighted
pool safety, environmental impact, as well
as open water and boating safety. The hands-on
stations covered: properly fitting a life
jacket, using radio calls for help, an ambulance
tour, cold water dangers, reach and assist
rescues, diving board safety, and basic first
aid and CPR. At the end of the day our lifeguards
performed a mock pool rescue. |

We arranged
for an officer of the Virginia State Police
Academy to come out and speak to our Club.
We were taught emergency procedures during
safety situations such as: the importance
of watching people carefully, ways to describe
people to the authorities, the importance
of maintaining eye contact, what to do if
you walk in on a robbery, and how to resolve
stressful situations with perpetrators. |
