The calling
post system has provided a more immediate
form of communication with our membership.
It has promoted events and provided necessary
information at important times.

In the past,
the Club mailed confirmation postcards to
members who registered for summer camp. The
cards included all the information members
needed to know about our camp program and
the supplies they needed to bring. Often,
the postcards would be lost and the parents
would have to call with questions. We decided
to help our families by giving each one a
tote bag with a brightly colored handout
tucked inside. The parents went home with
all the information they needed and the campers
had a new bag to carry all of their camp
gear. |

We created
an 18 month calendar to showcase upcoming
centennial events and highlight historical
Club milestones. The complimentary calendars
were mailed to each member family. |

In order
to generate excitement and interest for a
club dance, a video commercial was filmed
and loaded onto the front page of the club
website. Members did not even have to log
on, just click and watch the 4-minute ad. |

Enlist a
local botanist to identify and describe the
more interesting landscaping specimens, then
create a Nature Trail with numbered markers.
A colorful brochure to lead the self-guided
tour is all that is needed for this informative
member activity. |

Through special
communication tools we keep parents informed
of club activities pertaining to children’s
interest. Our club has grown with well-attended
children’s activities. All of the kid’s
activities stress family unity and fun together.
Parents enjoy the Club more when the kids
are having fun. Keeping parents informed
gets them all to participate. |

Our board
and committee meeting minutes are posted
in a restricted area of our website. Board
members and key staff are granted access
via a security group on the website; other
members do not even see this link. Authorized
users can see and click on the link, and
are able to see the minutes from the committee
and board meetings from the most recent meeting
back to the inception, two years ago. Special
committee minutes are posted as well. |

To increase
member traffic on our website, the Woodholme
mouse pad was produced. Member usage of the
website increased as many of the members
sent inquiries for their user name and password.
This was a first step in moving our newsletter
as an online-only publication. |

We installed
picture frames on hinges in clubhouse elevators
to hold poster-size advertisements. High
visibility helps market events and hinged
frames allow for frequent changing of posters. |

The Granite
Club Communication Standards and Corporate
Identity Manual is an excellent reference
for any staff member or section convener
responsible for composing communications
for the Granite Club. The manual also provides
guidelines for contributors to the Club’s
monthly magazine, and for external suppliers
who produce communications documents for
the Club. |
