Six clubs in Des Moines, Iowa, hosted a pre-release party for "Bobby Jones – Stroke of Genius" at the Fleur Cinema and Café. Three Carpenter, General Manager of the Wakonda Club worked with the Bobby Jones Foundation to bring this event to Des Moines. The Wakonda Club then partnered with Glen Oaks Country Club, Hyperion Field Club, Des Moines Golf & Country Club, Echo Valley Country Club, Embassy Club and Des Moines Club to make this event happen.

The use of the cinema, owned by Michael Coppola of Echo Valley Country Club, was donated for the evening.

The proceeds of the event will go to establishing The First Tee program in Des Moines. Created by the World Golf Foundation in 1997, The First Tee’s mission is to give young people of all ethnic and economic backgrounds the opportunity to learn honesty, integrity and sportsmanship through golf and character education.

Rob Brown, Head Golf Professional at Wakonda CC, has been involved from the begining in starting a First Tee Program in the Des Moines area.
