Within
the North Region of FLCMAA is a shining example of academic
excellence at Florida State University’s Dedman School
of Hospitality. Florida State’s nationally ranked
and AACSB accredited College of Business includes the Hospitality
School which offers a working model of training for students
interested in the number one industry in Florida today
- Hospitality and Tourism. The curriculum works to combine
the best of the college of business with proven hospitality
management techniques.
The curriculum at the Dedman School of Hospitality is comprehensive
and rigorous, with a faculty dedicated to the development of
individual growth through educational experience as well as
preparation for success in the hospitality industry. They
proudly boast of their 100% placement for students seeking employment
after graduation.
A recent gathering at the school as part of the Hospitality
School’s Annual Career Fair brought together a select
group of CMAA members to enjoy a North Region Meeting and get
a look at the workings of this prestigious hospitality program.
The day combined a panel discussion on Internships in Private
Clubs, a luncheon presentation to CMAA CEO, Jim Singerling,
a CMAA booth at the Career Fair, tours of Tallahassee area clubs,
an educational presentation by Jim Singerling, and a Hospitality
School Reception. Jim Riscigno, Executive in Residence
and Director of the Professional Golf Management Major in the
Dedman School of Hospitality served as both a panel member and
host for the North Region.
The luncheon to recognize the contributions of CMAA and Jim
Singerling to the hospitality industry was held at the very
impressive Dedman School of Hospitality, which is housed in
the Florida State University Football Stadium. An endowment
by Club Corp founder, Robert Dedman allowed the school to develop
their focus on private clubs and professional golf management.
Jim was presented the Distinguished Industry Leader Award as
a facilitator to hospitality and club management excellence.
The day was an inspiring look at a professional program of students
within the North Region. FLCMAA has a wonderful resource
of talent, educational strength and meaningful training within
the halls of the Dedman School of Hospitality at Florida State
University. Their annual Career Fair provided the
opportunity to get a glimpse of this impressive curriculum as
well as network with the students, faculty and alumni of Florida
State. Look for the announcement of the Hospitality School
Career Fair in 2006!
