Hit
the Greens for Hurricane Relief
University
Park CC located in Sarasota, Florida has raised $4,600 through
golfing events and a club dinner. The money is being donated
to Habitat for Humanity's Hurricane Recovery Effort.
A
former resident of New Orleans, Club Manager Chip Willis organized
several fund raising efforts during the month of October.
The first event found UPCC Director of Golf Michael Clayton,
Executive Chef Andrew Bonner and Willis on the tee at the
signature fifth hole of the Club where they challenged the
participants of a men's inter-club tournament to beat (for
a fee) their worst shot. In a little over two hours,
the trio raised $600.
On
Saturday, October 15, 2005, the club held the Taste of
New Orleans: A Dinner to Benefit the Hurricane Recovery
Efforts for Habitat For Humanity. The proceeds from this
dinner and a donation from the club along with the golf challenge
earlier in the month totaled $4,600.
The
Members and staff of University Park country Club are honored
to make these funds available to Habitat for Humanity knowing
the great work they are doing for so many in need. The victims
of this catastrophe will be in need of support for many months
and hopes many more people will continue the effort to raise
money for this hard hit area.
Way to go Chip, the staff and members of UPCC!
