The
Manager in Development Program provides:
- A
planned and supervised educational experience, providing practical skills
through actually working in a club
- Opportunities
for personal and professional growth for both the AMID and the sponsoring
club manager.
- A
gateway to the club management profession.
- Definitions
and unique characteristics of the club industry, while allowing one
to focus on them in career development.
- A
source of fresh ideas and assistance with special club projects.
- An
audit of the club's operations, providing objective benchmarks
designed to enhance the organization through a review of the policies
and procedures.
- A
means of promoting CMAA and the club industry to the student chapter
population and those moving into the industry from other fields.
- Meaningful
interaction among club staff and members.
- The
mentor with an effective means of pre-screening future managers.
- The
mentor an opportunity to experience pride for having successfully guided
an individual into the club management
profession.
Program
Requirements
- A
completed AMID application, signed by the applicant and mentor, must
be submitted to CMAA National Headquarters.
- The
program cannot be completed successfully in less than one year, nor
more than three years.
- Candidates
must complete all assignments, as noted, throughout the AMID program
to successfully complete the course.
- The
review committee may evaluate all completed course materials and compiled
portfolio.
- Candidates
must successfully demonstrate their knowledge through an oral examination
conducted by the review committee.
- An
affidavit of completion, signed by all parties, must be submitted to
the CMAA National Headquarters.
Eligibility
Requirements
- AMID
candidates must be employed at a club.
- AMID
candidates must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- AMID
candidates can be current assistant managers, departmental supervisors
or club interns.
- The
AMID candidate and mentor must be members of CMAA to receive program
materials compliments of The Club Foundation. Non-members may purchase
the Program materials for $500.
- A
CCM or MCM must be involved in the evaluation process. If the Sponsoring
Manager/ Mentor is not a CCM or MCM, there must be a second signature
on all evaluation documents by someone who is.
Program
Recognition
- Successful
completion of the AMID program will accredit the candidate with 60 CMAA/CMI
Education Credits (the same amount as two BMIs).
- CMAA
awards each AMID a plaque upon successful completion of the program.
- The
Manager Mentor will receive ten (10) Activity Credits for assisting
the AMID candidate through successful completion of the course materials.
- The
successful candidates will receive recognition from their local chapter
of CMAA and at the annual Manager's Conference.
