Step
#4 - Develop
Relationships and Follow-Up
|
||||||||
|
This
step relies heavily on the individual participation of your club
and managers and will determine the future success of your program.
Again, the person you appoint to lead your internship program
will make or break the program during this step.

Developing
Relationships with Students and Schools* Get involved with local and regional student CMAA programs; * Participate in student functions at CMAA's Annual World Conference - be available to interview students; * Contact faculty advisors on a monthly basis to ensure continued communication; * Be a guest speaker at local universities - those with and without CMAA student chapters; * Establish an exit survey for all interns to complete - discuss the pros and cons of your program; and * Learn about internship requirements for schools you are working with to attract students and be sure your program fulfills their needs. You must recognize the time commitment required with internship programs and be prepared to devote the necessary time. Work closely with students after their tenure with your club so that they may act as recruiters and advocates for your program. Listen to the needs expressed by students and their faculty advisors and be prepared to adapt your program to meet the needs of the students. |
