2008 NCC Held at TPC Sawgrass

2008 CMAA National Club Championship Presented by Cadillac Hosted November 15 -17th at TPC Sawgrass

Alexandria, VA – December 2008 – The Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) is pleased to report the 6th annual CMAA National Club Championship presented by Cadillac took place on November 15 -17 at TPC Sawgrass, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, home of THE PLAYERS Championship. This year’s tournament brought more than 100 golfers from 18 different states to compete for the right to be National Club Champion. Also, CMAA was pleased to add PGA TOUR Experiences as a valuable member of the management team for the 2008 event.

The format consisted of 54 holes played at scratch over three days. The field played the first round on Pete Dye’s Valley course; rounds two and three 3 were played on the famed Stadium course. An ‘ultimate champion’ category was added to the 2008 tournament, which highlighted the winners of each division – champion, women’s and senior – in a 3-hole playoff. Our three champions were, Andy Cooper from The Woodlands CC in Texas, in the champion division with a score of 2 over par; Mike Booker also from the Woodlands CC in Texas, in the senior division with a score of 4 over par; and Amelia Lewis from San Jose CC in Jacksonville, Florida, in the women’s division with a score of 2 under par. Women’s Champion Amelia Lewis, just 17 years old, stole the show with her amazing 15-foot birdie putt on the Stadium course’s 18th hole to secure her spot as 2008 Ultimate Champion. “That was awesome! It was pretty amazing,” Lewis said. Booker was quick to give Lewis credit. “She’s got a lot of talent,” he said. “She can play.”

With the close of the 2008 event, we are excited to announce that next year’s tournament will be held at TPC Sawgrass on November 8 -11, 2009. Please visit our website to track further details at www.nccgolf.org.
