Career Services PictureThe CMAA Career Services Department continued to grow and develop in 2010. ClubCareers, CMAA’s online career resource, remained as the focus for all career related needs of CMAA members. The year was highlighted by two key additions:

  • The CMAA Severance Checklist. This resource for members serves as a guide when constructing your employment agreements or contracts. It also serves as a quick reference in a time of need when it’s vital that you identify what might be rightfully yours.
  • The Club Managers Guide To Developing a Club Internship Program. The guide was overhauled and redesigned by the CMAA Internship Task Force with the primary goal of giving clubs a comprehensive tool to use when establishing and/or enhancing their current internship programs. The guide was developed to take some of the guess work out of building internship programs by providing guidelines encompassing several different levels and types of internships.

Through the Career Services National Committee and CMAA Staff, many projects have been established and will be completed in 2011.

  • The ClubCareers website will be completely re-designed during 2011. The new site will address all problem areas and improve the overall effectiveness of the site. The new site will allow many more tools for job posters while remaining user-friendly. Stay tuned for updates as they develop.
  •
  • Enhancements to the Career Opportunity Showcase event at the Annual World Conference. Some of these enhancements will include small break-out learning opportunities with:
    • CMAA Coaches, Kevin MacDonald and Shelley MacDougall;
    • Résumé information with ConvincingResumes.com; and
    • Interviewing tips and tricks with industry professionals.

The Career Services Department is excited about the upcoming year and looks forward to the continued growth and development of ClubCareers and all career-related resources offered through CMAA.
