Wine Society Secretary Job Description
Position on the Board: Secretary


Bylaw Statement about Position:
Section VI – Shall act as Secretary of the Society and as Secretary for the Society’s Board of Managers. The Secretary shall work with the CMAA National staff when necessary, to conduct a membership survey among Society members.

Tenure of Office:
?Officers of the Wine Society as described above shall be elected for one year terms and, during such terms, shall also be members of the Board of Managers. The Secretary shall serve for one (1) year or until his/her successor is elected. The Secretary shall not succeed the respective position. Each officer's year in office shall coincide with the Society's fiscal year.

Position Summary:
Conducts membership survey among Society members with the National staff as directed by the Host.
Acts as Associate Editor of the IWS newsletter in conjunction with IWS Editor on CMAA staff.

Key Responsibilities:
• Advises staff editor on content and assignments for quarterly IWS newsletter.
• Directs Board participation in newsletter assignments.
• Acts as Secretary of the Society and as Secretary for the Society’s Board. The Secretary shall also work with National staff when necessary, to conduct a membership survey among Society members.
• Other duties as assigned by the IWS Host from time to time.

Programming Responsibilities:
• Encourages participation of IWS Board and Chapter Representatives in production of IWS newsletter.
• Assists IWS Editor in production of newsletter.
• Creates all surveys to IWS membership in conjunction with CMAA National Staff at the behest of the Host.
• Supports the activities and programming of the IWS to all CMAA managers.
• Supports the marketing and production of the IWS newsletter, Wine Society News.
• Works with assigned IWS Chapter Representatives to enhance local IWS programming.
• Fulfills obligations of the IWS during the National Conference.
• Completes assignments as given by the IWS Host in a timely and fiscally appropriate manner.
• Serves as directed by the Host on various committees or subcommittees as may be needed from time to time.
• Supports the mission of the IWS to the wine industry in general.
