Special Club Features
Devon Yacht Club is a 103 year old member owned club located on Gardiner's Bay in Amagansett, Long Island, N.Y. The club is open 6 days a week from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day and weekends through the first week in October. We have a main dining room and snackbar serving lunch and dinner. We are known for our fine dining experience and maintain top-level service.
The club is steeped in tradition from honoring the colors wtih our daily sunset ceremony to our traditional family night buffets in the formal dining room. We have a very active adult and junior sailing program. Our junior program has over ninety children enrolled each summer. Our marina has 43 slips with the majority occupied by sailboats. We are one of the largest Alerion sailboat fleets in North America.
In addition to our sailing program, we have an active tennis facility. During the peak season, we employee approximately 70 employees. Approximately 1/2 of the staff lives at the club. The majority of our members are from New York City and have second homes in "The Hamptons". New York City is about a 2.5 hour drive from Amagansett.

Dining Room Manager
Brief Job Description
1. Schedules Personnel and plans room set-up based on event and guest counts. Trains staff in fine dining and wine service. Coordinate the ordering and distribution of club provided uniforms. Handles all staff scheduling for normal dining and special events.
2. Does floor plans and seating assignments along with information to be given to Servers.
3. Coordinates Runners schedules and tasks with Kitchen
4. Greets and Seats members and guests. Can handle order entry if necessary
5. Supervises all dining room service, through out club both main dining room and snackbar. Is present and active on the dining room floor through out the evening overseeing fine dining and assisting staff.
6. Hires, trains and supervises dining room staff (Based on Dining Room Manager’s off-season schedule, travel to Florida for a week in winter months to recruit) Compensation and expenses will be paid accordingly.
7. Provides appropriate reports concerning employee hours & schedules. Interacts with upper management to provide timely information and/or concerns.
8. Receives and handles all complaints concerning Food, Beverage & Service.
9. Serves as a liaison between the dining room and kitchen staffs. Coordinates daily specials with kitchen and produces document for posting on website.
10. Responsible for seeing that all side work is assigned properly and completed along with cleaning of equipment and storage areas.
11. Directs per-meal meetings with dining room personnel. Relays any policy changes or operational changes to staff and guides them in making adjustments
12. Oversees the set-up of all special events, works with committees with regard to event set up and support. Handles all linen orders for weekly dining and events.
13. Assures that all dining room staff is dressed appropriately and proper for dining room work.
14. Reviews the cleanliness and proper set-up of dining room and equipment.
15. Assists, if necessary, at bar during peak times or bartender break. Aids management with inventory reviews.
16. Serves as closing manager based on the schedule determined with the GM.
Candidate Qualifications
-Candidate should have the following Characteristics & Qualifications:
- Strong positive attitude and willingness to assist members throughout their dining experience,
-Must be highly visible and possess a confident disposition, Passionate about member satisfaction and value.
-Candidate must have experience in a resort or private club setting with both a la carte, buffet & banquet dining.
-3 years minimum experience managing a fine dining facility
-Ability to manage a team of servers and runners to provide the best dining experience for our members
-Proficient in wine service and be able to train staff in same.
-Ability to think outside the box and get the job done.
-Knowledge of computer order entry.
-Strong, Polished communication skills are necessary for interactions with members, management and staff
Educational Requirements
-Bachelors Degree – Hospitality preferred
