Special Club Features

Congress Lake is an exclusive private country club located in the greater Cleveland/Akron metropolitan area. The Club, one of the oldest in Ohio, features a 60,000 square foot facility with multiple dining rooms, banquet facilities, guest rooms, 2 kitchens, and other F & B outlets. Sporting activities include golf, boating, sailing, fishing, swimming, and racquet sports. The Club is open 5 days per week from October 15 to April 15 (Closed the month of February) and open 6 days per week from April 15 to Oct 15.

Club is open 6 days per week, 11 months per year.

Brief Job Description

Great opportunity for Hospitality Management students seeking summer intership.  Interns will be exposed to many aspects of club Food & Beverage operations and will be expected to be a leader within the organization.  Congress Lake expects a lot from its interns but in return we set our interns up for a long and successful career within the Club Industry.  Many of our recent interns have gone on to leadership position within our organization and some of the top clubs across the country. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

1.Adheres to the club’s mission and vision statement

2.Adheres to the club’s standard procedures for food and beverage and house operations

3.Responsible for all F & B service operations at the pool service

  • Daily supervision of all pool food and beverage outlets ensuring standard operating procedures are met
  • High member visibility
  • Assign and hold staff accountable for all side-work
  • General Enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures and Club Rules regarding staff
  • Assist with the implementation the club’s ongoing service staff training program
  • Internal cost control of liquor, supplies and food including inventories with F&B Managers & Bar Manager
  • Maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment
  • Promotion of dining and beverage operations
  • Responsible for opening and closing SOPs of pool F&B 
  • Assist with F&B set up and operation during parties and swim meets
  • Attend and contribute to professional development and training activities
  • Adheres to all federal, state and local laws pertaining to safety, health and employment

Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candiates for our internship will be working and motivated in pursuit of their club career.  They will embrace a "team first" attitude and will be a "hands on" leader.  Candidates should be good communicators, both written and verbal.  Interns at Congress Lake are expected to have a passion for serving others, always striving to exceed member expectations.  Interns must be detailed orientated and not afraid to hold other team members accountable.  Interns must be willing to committ to a full summer internship, beginning before Memorial Day Weekend.  

Interns must be willing to work full-time, with most weeks exceeding 40 hours.  At Congress Lake, we strive to provide all team members with the best work-life balance possible, however during the summer season interns should expect to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Educational Requirements

Active pursuit of College Degree in Hospitality Management ; and minimum of 2 years food and beverage work experience, preferably club based
