Golf Facilities

  • 27 hole course, par 72, designed by John Fought
Host Club for the PGA TOUR's Sanderson Farms Championship. Redesigned Championship 18 by John Fought, completed in October 2008. Additional golf facilities include a full-length 9-hole course, expansive driving range and short game area.

Food and Beverage receives high marks at the CCJ. Food quality is excellent (we are known as the finest banquet facility in the metro Jackson area) and service is friendly. The Lower Level of the Clubhouse is the main member-dining area, comprising the Magnolia Grill (casual), TJ's (19th Hole) and Onyx (couples lounge). The outdoor Terrace can accommodate another 60+ weather permitting.

Special Club Features

The Country Club of Jackson is Mississippi's largest private Club. Founded in 1914, the Club is very active and has grown to more than 120,000 square feet of facilities.  A large renovation ($14.6m) in 2008/09 has set the Club up for success for years to come.  One of 17 private Country Clubs in the US to host a PGA TOUR event.

Club is open 6 days per week, 12 months per year.

Assistant Manager

Brief Job Description

The primary role of the Assistant Manager is to manage the three member dining areas and assist with banquets.  Key elements will include properly staffing and identifying trends in service. Continued staff training and close supervision must be executed to achieve this.  The Manager must remain on the floor to assist with member and guest needs. 

An emphasis on Banquet events and execution of the events will be developed.  Proper training and anticipation for function setup, execution and tear down will be crucial.  Scheduling staff to handle multiple functions and assisting members and guests with their event needs will be part of the Manager’s job.

Overall F&B management will be developed.  Successfully adhering to budgeted costs, wages, and other budget items will be imperative.  Coordinating service amongst all F&B outlets during the PGA TOUR Sanderson Farms Championship will be an immense roll as well.

The Country Club of Jackson has been the host site for the PGA TOUR Sanderson Farms Championship since 2014, and has the longest on tour contract through 2030.  Recently the Sanderson Farms Championship was named an unencumbered event that will reach the top 50 golfers in the world, have a purse of $6.6 million, full FedEx points, a spot on the Masters.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Has two years of prior Club F&B management experience
  • During the Sanderson Farms Championship, expected to assist in supervising all F&B service staff.  In seven days the club does $750,000 in food and beverage revenue.
  • Hire and fire wait staff and bartenders
  • Supervise proper training to assure excellent service
  • Highly visible in the FOH with members and guests
  • Instill a sense of urgency and expediency in the F&B staff
  • Remains on the floor during peak times
  • Receives and greets members and guests in the dining rooms;  greets hosts of banquet functions when they arrive to review pertinent information
  • Coordinates food service involving communication between kitchen and service staff
  • Carefully supervises to help assure proper service
  • Inspects the dining rooms prior to service to ensure accuracy, completeness and cleanliness (includes checking each table:  china/silver/glassware, linens, chairs, etc.)
  • Maintains control of the F&B tickets
  • Helps plan room set-up based on anticipated guest counts
  • Ensures that service staff remain in their scheduled work area throughout the shift unless given approval to leave the floor from management
  • Assigns pre and post function side work and personally checks to ensure that it is completed up to standard
  • Shares responsibility with the F&B management team for closing the building nightly (MOD responsibility)
  • Assists with service when needed
  • Helps keep an inventory of service items including silverware, coffee pots, water pitchers, salt and pepper shakers and sugar bowls
  • Helps take the monthly beverage inventory
  • Must have a hands-on, lead by example management style
  • Must possess wine and alcohol beverage knowledge
  • Fine Dining or private club experience a plus
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Very detailed oriented
  • Experience in resolving customer issues/complaints
  • Proficient in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Solid time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Proven ability to effectively build and foster a team environment
  • Ability to make decisions, remain calm and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment

Educational Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have a four year hospitality degree
  • Eger to pursue the CCM designation
