Brief Job Description

Join the culinary team at a prestigious private club in the heart of the Central West End as the Sous Chef. This is a part time position guaranteeing at least 20 hours a week, but this individual must be flexible as some weeks may require more of a time commitment.  We are looking for a candidate who is able to start as soon as possible.

As Sous Chef, you would be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef with the operation of the kitchen(s). We are looking for a team leader with a professional attitude and experience with upscale fine dining presentation.

Cook Duties and Responsibilities

  • Setting up, cleaning, and organizing work stations
  • Preparing ingredients for shift as assigned; washing vegetables, chopping, seasoning meat, etc.
  • Preparing oven, utensils, and grill for shift
  • Cooking order according to food health and safety standards
  • Dressing order for presentation
  • Ensuring each guest order has the correct food and sides
  • Food orders made in a timely manner
  • Storing all food properly
  • Sanitizing and cleaning work stations and utensils
  • Prepare employee meals when asked
  • Check with Executive Chef on any special needs of guests or problems that need addressing
  • Prepare food items to Executive Chef's specifications and in a timely quick manor
  • Help in washing dishes, pots and pans and keeping kitchen clean and organized
  • Check in and put away food deliveries
  • Must be able to work in a small kitchen and very fast paced and stay in control " under Executive Chef's Direction
  • Arrive on time dressed in uniform and begin prep that presented to you by chef. Set up line; assist in anyway in kitchen to maintain a smooth-running operation.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience on line with identifiable leadership experiences
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Works well as part of a team and on individual tasks Must be able to work with all staff and be flexible to adjust to quick changes during day as we are a customer satisfaction business
  • Must be a positive leader and set a positive can-do attitude
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a washer, cook, or relevant work experience
  • Legally able to work in establishments which serve alcohol
  • Able to work early mornings, nights, and weekends
  • Able to bend, move, and lift up to 50 pounds or more
  • Physically able to stand and move during the length of shift; able to bend and kneel through shift
  • Must pass drug test
  • ServSafe Certificate
  • Reliable Transportation
