Brief Job Description

This is a position designed to enhance the high levels of member service enjoyed by the members since the 1920’s. The optimum candidate will possess progressive management experience and be considered by peers to have the utmost integrity, professionalism and incorporate the core values of Club Management.

Candidates should have experience in a high-volume platinum level Club or similar environment focusing on food and beverage operations. The Club is seeking candidates with proven dining experience, extensive wine knowledge, and a high-end service demeanor. Proven leadership qualities too support the collaborative service culture and ability to develop a strong team is a prerequisite allowing him/her to successfully mentor, coordinate and manage the service staff.

The ideal candidate must thrive and have the energy to maintain service levels in a fast-paced, high volume environment. The candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills with an understanding of how to deliver exceptional member services. The Clubhouse Manager will be highly visible assisting on the floor daily to ensure quality service is being provided to members. The Clubhouse Manager will be responsible for all front of house operations including scheduling, room set up, function planning, dining operations, team training and development and will assist in the hiring of the personnel during the off-season.

Candidate Qualifications

The following qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Be the primary coordinator of food and beverage, budgeting, hiring, orientation, coaching, training, menu development, inventory control, creating a culture of teamwork and the supervision of staff to ensure all is done in accordance with approved Club policies and compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Have a strong highly visible and respectful presence with the membership, be an exceptional communicator, have expert interpersonal skills, and the maturity to instinctively know how to treat members and guests with a high-level of service. He or she must be able to communicate these expectations to a staff with diverse backgrounds and motivate them positively to understand and execute to those expectations.
  • Be an active and dynamic recruiter of team members and someone who inherently enjoys developing and building his/her team and leading them to significant, positive membership satisfaction outcomes. Previous experience with recruiting both H-2B and J1 workers is a plus.
  • Have a passion and aptitude for teaching and training. Develop and enhance existing training programs for all Food & Beverage staff, working in conjunction with the Supervisor directly responsible for Dining operation.
  • Establish and communicate an effective orientation and onboarding program for all employees in conjunction with the General Manager.
  • Oversee dining areas to ensure smooth and consistent experience commonality of service standards, high levels of member and guest satisfaction, quality food products and exemplary service in conjunction with dining room staff and the Executive Chef.
  • Be a focused and consistent evaluator of personnel ensuring that standards of conduct and delivery are met; this includes oversight of high standards of appearance, hospitality, service, and cleanliness of the Clubhouse facilities.
  • Work in conjunction with Dining Room Supervisor regarding the training programs for Dining Room Staff on various topics including service techniques, knowledge of menu items and daily specials, sanitation, team building and conflict resolution; regularly review and evaluate knowledge and understanding of these expectations.
  • Responsible for the proper accounting and reconciliation of the Point of Sale system and member revenues. Knowledge of Northstar Club Software Program preferred.
  • Hold daily and weekly staff meetings with direct reports to keep them informed of necessary and relevant activities and expectations at the Club.
  • Assist the General Manager and House/Entertainment Committee in planning Club special events.
  • Oversee and properly execute all social functions, golf outings including member and member sponsored events & weddings.
  • Strive to find creative ways to accommodate reasonable member requests and have a belief in a service philosophy which promotes a “can do” attitude.
  • Develop and monitor budgets and procedures in conjunction with management staff, to provide direction and controls for food and beverage operations; implement corrective procedures as necessary to help ensure that budget goals are attained.
  • Have a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness, while also maintaining quality and integrity.
  • Recommend, monitor and manage policies, operating procedures and staffing for all F & B areas; recognize the needs and consistently to perform at high levels of service and within designed budgets.
  • Responsible for the management and procurement of inventories of all Beverages, Linens and Dining Room Supplies. Works in conjunction with the controller to maintain designed budgets.
  • Organize all employee arrivals onto the island and coordinate all employee housing assignments for all staff residing in Club Housing.
  • Monitor and enforce all Club rules for all employee housing in conjunction with other Department Heads.
  • Work in conjunction with Maintenance Supervisor to report all required repairs and damages.
  • Be a collaborative team player who is “hands on” when necessary but understands when to step back and lead the team.
  • Involve necessary staff in the decision-making process and create a work environment people want to come to and participate every day.
  • Ensure effective and efficient staffing and scheduling for all facilities and functions while balancing financial objectives with member satisfaction goals.
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef to facilitate a strong relationship between kitchen and front of the house staff.
  • Ensure that staff clearly understand performance expectations and that assigned tasks are reasonable, well-conceived and appropriately conveyed. Provide resources necessary to allow employees to perform their jobs effectively and create an exceptional experience for members and guests.

Educational Requirements

Interested Candidates should posess a Hospitality Degree from an acredited College or University.

Qualified individuals must have a minimum of 3 years experience in a Mananagement position at a high volume Private Club or Resort.
