Assistant Food and Beverage Manager
Brief Job Description
The Assistant Food and Beverage Manager will work closely with the Food and Beverage Director, ultimately being groomed to take the Kinloch Experience on to their next endeavor after several years. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, be an effective communicator and have practical knowledge of food and beverage operations.
They will primarily be responsible for assisting in the day to day operation of the Food and Beverage department including but not limited to supervision of front of house. Directly supervises all food and beverage personnel including the Dining Room Manager, and managers of all other outlets such as snack bars, half-way houses, etc. Hires, trains, and supervises and is responsible for assuring the highest standards of service are met including appearance, hospitality of service staff, meeting and then exceeding guest expectations in all regards.
Candidate Qualifications
- Must have good computer skills and be proficient in but not limited to: Jonas, POS, reservation systems and word processing.
- Candidates must have exemplary customer service skills, a positive, upbeat and hospitality focused personality.
- A sincere desire to learn and grow professionally within the hospitality industry.
- Supervise service staff in all areas of club to ensure that high level of service is being delivered consistently to our members and guests
- Recruit and train service staff to be effective team members delivering excellent service across the club
- Work with Clubhouse Manager and Executive Chef on club events as well as private events including menu planning, Banquet Event Order creation, coordination of rental items, etc.
- Expedite à la carte dining service
- Inventory management of china, silverware, glassware, and other service items
- Hands on management style which conveys teamwork and accountability
- Dresses and always conducts themselves in a professional manner
- Communicate effectively with key personnel in all aspects of position
- Assure proper set up of day to day activity as well as following proper closing procedures when designated
- Enforce rules, guidelines, policies, and procedures as outlined in Employee Handbook as well as Membership Handbook and those also established by management. Approve weekly payroll and manage schedule to stay within budget
- Conduct daily pre-shift meetings with the Executive or Sous Chef and include beverage department updates as well as service reminders
- Knowledgeable about all menu items, preparation methods, and potential allergens
- Assure the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of all dining areas, equipment, fixtures, and furniture. Communicate any issues to Food and Beverage Director and follow up for resolution.
- Follow documented sanitation guidelines
- Monitor and follow current beverage trends to broaden beverage program
- Assures that all laws applicable to beverage operations are consistently followed
- Implement and maintain strict procedural and cost controls to maximize profitability
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Food and Beverage
- Must have a basic understanding of wine, beer, and liquor.
- Strong communication skills, ability to multitask, work well as a team, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. JONAS experience is a plus.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and must be able to work a variety of shifts including mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Prior private club experience not necessary though highly desired.
- A highly visible and interactive individual committed to engaging members and staff.
- This role reports to the Director of Food and Beverage and works closely with the Food and Beverage team.
Educational Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality or related field is helpful, plus a minimum of 5 years or more in a similar position and responsibility in a private club, resort or high-end restaurants
