Brief Job Description

FOOD & BEVERAGE INTERN:

The student intern will spend a majority of his/her time in casual dining, clubhouse dining, or the pool operation with opportunities to shadow the other F&B operations throughout the summer. The student will also gain knowledge of overall club operations with rotations through other club departments (Golf Maintenance, Horticulture, Golf, etc.).  The internship will weigh heavily on line level responsibilities. Depending on the progression of the student, exposure to supervisory responsibilities is a possibility. The intern will have the opportunity to attend senior staff presentations, food and beverage department meetings and other club sponsored social and educational events. The student will have involvement in the Club’s local chapter of CMAA. 

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE: 

  • Problem solve food & beverage service related issues while delivering personalized service.
  • Work in tandem with culinary to see the impact both areas have on the food and beverage operations.
  • Effectively execute a high level of service in a fast-paced environment both in the dining rooms and banquet operations.
  • Obtain beverage knowledge and training through hands on experience.
  • Learn how to lead through development of staff line-ups, role plays, boot camps, and presentations.
  • Assist with administrative responsibilities to include scheduling, planning and payroll.
  • Create service plans and timelines, and execute club events and private parties.
  • Coach and assist with morale-boosting activities for team members.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates should be actively pursuing a degree in hospitality management and have an interest in private clubs.  Candidates must be willing to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays. Candidates will need to possess excellent communication and organization skills, be detailed oriented and enthusiastic. Candidates will also need to be trust worthy, honest, hardworking and have the ability to multi-task.
