Mira Vista Country Club is a full-service, member-owned, equity country club open to Members living inside and outside of the community.  For 30+ years, Mira Vista has brought families and friends together for golf, tennis, swimming and social gatherings in our gated community in Fort Worth. It is a place where Members and staff alike treat newcomers, and each other, like friends. Members participate in frequent social events, enjoy swimming, fitness & tennis facilities and play golf where many golf tour pros choose to play, on a nationally recognized course and practice facility. Located in the heart of North Texas, Mira Vista community offers first-class living and amenities in Fort Worth’s only 24 hour gated community of its kind. The par 71 course takes full advantage of the natural beauty provided by this 700-acre development, as it meanders through the scenic vistas.  The club was selected the “Best of the Private Clubs” for mid-priced category in the DFW area by Avid Golfer in 2017. 

The clubhouse measures 44,000 square feet and features family and adult dining which has been recently renovated.  The various dining outlets include the Sunset Grill which is an elegant atmosphere for both romantic dinners and family nights that seats 85 guests.  The Horizon Lounge and Patio provides a more causal environment overlooking the 18th hole and a gorgeous panorama of the western sky.   The Texas sunsets are beyond belief when viewed from the Horizon Lounge and Patio which seats 130 guests.  The Pointe is even more causal which provides a causal menu and drinks for golfers, tennis players, swimmers and others looking for a quick meal.   The private event venues include the Grand Vista and Sunset Ballrooms which are 16,000 square-feet and designed to host luncheons and dinners of 50 guests to weddings up to 300 guests.  The ballroom has direct access to a private patio overlooking the 18th hole and western sky.  The Board room seats up to 14 guests, the Governor’s room host meetings up to 60 guests and the Ladies Library host smaller events up to 40 guests.

Club is open 6 days per week, 12 months per year.

Brief Job Description

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Executive Chef must understand the nuances of private club service, provide cutting edge menu ideas while staying true to the traditions of the Club, and strive for excellence with the member experience.  The Executive Chef will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day culinary operations at Mira Vista Country Club.  He/she will develop and execute all initiatives surrounding the successful management of the culinary operation, including but not limited to budgeting, planning, organizing, and directing.  The Executive Chef will also be responsible for menu planning, recipe creation, food ordering, food production, storage, safety and sanitation standards, and labor staffing and scheduling.

Candidate Qualifications

CANDIDATE EXPRIERENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MUST HAVE: a minimum of 5 years of experience as an Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef in a Club (or other high-end hospitality).
  • Excellent culinary knowledge and skills, with exceptional creative abilities.
    • Wine knowledge preferred.
    • Ability to adhere to food service policies, procedures, and safety and sanitation standards.
  • Strong command of banquet operations and multi-kitchen management.
  • Proven success with guest satisfaction, revenue generation, cost management, menu planning and development, and budget preparation experience.
    • Must be able to manage food and labor costs according to budgeted targets.
  • Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills.
    • Must be able to both give and follow clear direction, working as part of a team.
    • Bilingual is a plus.
    • Comfortable and professional when interacting with members and staff.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills.
    • Previous success in developing employees and kitchen operations.
    • Must have impeccable integrity.
  • Basic computer skills.
    • Accustomed to using technological tools such as Point-of-Sales systems, email, MS Excel, and MS word.
  • Established business/financial acumen as it relates to kitchen operations (revenue generation, menu engineering, cost of goods sold, labor costs, etc.)

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIATE WILL:

  • Work well under pressure, be organized with his/her task list, demonstrate self-motivation, and be an active problem solver.
  • Have an energetic, enthusiastic, friendly, and professional demeanor demonstrating personal pride and attention to detail.
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and nights as necessary in order to adapt to the needs of the Club, leading the kitchen staff by example.
  • Understand the culture of a private Club membership and industry food trends.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE: The Executive Chef reports directly to the Clubhouse Manager and works closely with the Event Coordinator and all Service Managers.  The Executive Chef also works closely with the House Committee.
