Director of Member Experience
This position will be responsible for a variety of member experiences at the Bay Creek Club residential community along the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The Director will be expected to manage programs for all ages of our guests, members, and residents. This position will lead a team of talented professionals, and consistently deliver excellent guest service while striving to exceed their expectations. Facility maintenance, pool activities, beach activities, fitness programs, children’s activities, family programs, nature excursions, wellness and nutritional programs, , bicycle, kayak, and stand-up paddle board rentals are just some of the opportunities we would like to make available to our guests and members at Bay Creek. Preserve Communities is currently seeking a Director of Member Experience for a community in the Cape Charles, VA, area.
Primary Responsibilities: Provide direction, leadership, and focus as well as manage the day-to-day operations, financials, and budgetary needs of all lifestyle components of the community designed to enrich the quality of life and enhance the vibrancy of the community for members, and guests. This includes the existing Life Center amenities and beach area programming but also all fitness, aquatics, and nature-based programs, special events, family programs, classes,
workshops, and kid’s club operations. Provides staff support and guidance to the General Manager and other team departments, as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Plan, coordinate and implement programs, classes, and special community-wide events.
• Hire, supervise, educate, motivate, schedule, and evaluate other Life Center staff, including personal trainers and fitness class instructors.
• Provide staff direction on mission development and its relation to program development, delivery, and board directed budget goals.
• Develop and manage the Member Experience budget providing recommendations to the management.
• Act as liaison to related committees as needed.
• Work with Member Experience team coordinators to develop processes to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality programs.
• Research and analyze trends and members’ and guests’ feedback to identify, conceptualize, develop, produce, and strategically execute their experience through excellent programming.
• Establish and maintain standards of programming taking into consideration global and local current events and worldwide trends, with the main objective to include new and innovative guest experiences and to help motivate team coordinators to create diversity in program offerings.
• Stay current on local, national, and international events, contemporary activities, and immersive experiences that are popular with our members and guests, with an objective of eliciting new members.
• Attend conferences, join resort/club associations, and extend your passion for the industry through the search for new and innovative talent, expertise, and professionalism.
• Implement new programs as required to meet approved budget goals.
• Develop and maintain community relationships and resources to enhance/diversify program development for the benefit of the members, residents, and guests.
• Establish and maintain relationships with community businesses to create exclusive discounts/privileges of interest to residents.
• Attend regular management or membership meetings, when requested.
• Conduct new homeowner orientation presentations, when applicable.
• Assist with preparation of Newsletter publications and the community website, if needed.
• Perform other job-related functions as assigned.
• Supervision of intern program/staff.
Educational Requirements
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Hospitality or Education preferred, or 7 years related work experience.
• Minimum 5 – 7 years management experience required.
