Quantuck Beach Club is a family oriented beach club that draws it members from Westhampton, Remsenburg, and Quogue, New York, located on the east end of Long Island. It is multi genrational and low key. The members enjoy coming throughout the summer months and look forward to lunch on the decks and lingering with other members on the decks or on the beach. There are usually a few member dinners thourghout the summer andmemebrs enjoy going to the club after hours to watch the sunset.

Responsibilities include (i) Working with the Club Manager to plan for and ensure the smooth and safe seasonal operation of ocean and bay front club, (ii) oversee daily beach opening and closing, as well as overall beach safety. Candidate Qualifications

Quantuck Beach Club Seeks Assistant Manager Beginning May 2021

Quantuck Beach Club is accepting applications for the position of an Assistant Manager, to begin in May 2021. The club is located on Dune Road in Westhampton Beach, NY and provides beach/bay access, kitchen facilities, changing areas, decks, and parking for a membership of approximately 350 families.

The Assistant Manager reports to the Club’s General Manager and a board of directors. Candidates for the position must provide evidence of their ability to perform the following tasks:

General

Working with the Club Manager, plan for and ensure the smooth and safe daily operation of ocean and bay front club according to the club’s annual calendar.

Oceanfront Responsibilities

Pre-Season Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with manager, review State and local and Red Cross oceanfront requirements/regulations for oceanfront guarding.

  • Hire lifeguards including identifying number of hires needed and anticipating shortfall at beginning and end of summer.

  • For returning and new guards, check certifications and where appropriate schedule CPR and/or lifeguarding recertification testing.

  • Help inspect and replace all first aid equipment, including lifeguarding equipment (boards, torpedoes, lines, buckets, radios, and walkie-talkies, etc.) and medications (general first aid including: bandages, antiseptic, gloves, analgesics, aspirin, Tylenol, band aids, gauze, etc.

  • Check AED certification. Assure sufficient batteries on hand.

  • Inspect/repair/replace all beach signage.

  • In conjunction with manager, establish rotation schedule.

  • Inspect/replace/repair swimming flags and poles designating swim area.

  • Inspect/replace/repair flagpole, lines and flags designating swim conditions.

  • Inspect/replace/repair chairs and umbrellas and work to promote a system of easy distribution.

  • Inspect/replace/repair/paint walkway from upper deck to beach.

  • Reconnect water to beach, foot bath and/or shower.

  • Anticipate and assign staffing needs.

  • Plan and implement Ocean Awareness Sunday classes, including identifying topics and activities.

  • Purchase sporting equipment for use by members, including soccer goals, volley balls, etc.

  • In conjunction with Manager, address local and federal regulatory concerns regarding piping plover protection

    and restriction of beach access to nesting areas.

  • In conjunction with Manager, establish protocol for safety, incident reports and member concerns. Circulate

    protocol to all employees, including guards.

  • Familiarize in contracting out and aid in basic maintenance repair work of club facility.

  • Assure garbage pick-up for the most efficient day or days of the week.

      

In Season Oceanfront Responsibilities

  • Schedule guards and key office personnel.

  • Oversee daily beach opening and closing, including beach cleaning.

  • Assure the membership has adequate access to ocean conditions and other pertinent information.

  • Daily inspection of beach, walkways, all parking lots, and docks.

  • Enforce beach access restrictions including to piping plover restricted areas and to dunes.

  • Weekly meetings with Manager to report, plan and manage.

  • In conjunction with Manager, submit guard payroll information on daily and weekly basis.

  • Schedule and conduct ongoing guard training and practice sessions as necessary and as required by state, local

    and Red Cross requirements, guidelines.

  • Instruct guards on appropriate responses to member concerns, complaints, etc.

  • Implement appropriate protocol established with Manager.

  • Daily establishment of guarding location and swimming area.

  • Oversee daily recording of ocean/air temperatures and conditions.

  • Work with Head Lifeguard and General Manager to designate flags for identification of swim conditions.

  • Enforce any swimming restrictions.

  • Hourly inspection as to changing conditions. Maintain log.

  • Maintain incident report log with sufficient detail to identify type of incident, participants, actions taken.

  • Keep waiting list for bathhouses and lockers, and work to keep locker list current.

  • Maintain Bay and Oceanfront log for repairs and member concerns.

    Bay Side Responsibilities

    Pre-Season Bay Side

  • Inspect/replace/repair dock segments and connections.

  • Inspect parking lot and repair as necessary.

  • If necessary, help establish rules for dock usage by children, including requirement that children be accompanied

    by parents.

    In Season Bay Side Responsibilities

  • Assure unlocking and locking of parking lot gates and the daily installation of crosswalk sign.

  • Regularly inspect parking lot; direct/assist parking-lot-attendant with debris and hazard removal

  • Daily inspection of dock to assure secure connections and absence of hazards.

  • Daily inspection of the bulkhead and beach area. Remove debris and hazards.

  • Assist with bay clean-up projects.

    Overall Club Knowledge

  • Introduction to Board activity and attendance at Board meetings as needed.

  • Gain familiarity with opening/closing protocols.

  • Gain familiarity with State and County Health Code regulations and requirements.

  • Gain familiarity with grounds/maintenance requirements.

  • Assist with budget record keeping.

  • Become familiar with overall Club budget.

  • Assist as needed with kitchen staffing and oversight, food ordering, menu creation, etc.

  • Assist with pre-season requirements.

  • Gain familiarity with creation and dissemination of member address book, planned events, and opening and

    closing schedule.

  • Assist with daily locker room needs and staffing assignment of responsibilities.

  • Assist with planning, ordering and executing membership events.

  • Gain familiarity with accountant responsibilities and interaction.

  • Gain familiarity with insurance coverage issues and knowledge of any exclusions.

  • Assist with ordering and selling branded merchandise.
