Special Club Features
Onwentsia Club celebrated its 125th anniversary last year and is one of the oldest country clubs in the country. Golf has long been a part of hte Club's heritage. It has hosted a U.S. Men's Open, a U.S. Men's Amateur, a U.S. Women's Amateur and a U.S. Senior (men's) Amateur. In addition to golf, a full range of activities are available to members and their families throughout all four seasons. In the summer, the Pool is popular with kids and families. There are 11 outdoor tennis courts, where a terrific summer tennis program is run for Juniors and men's and womens' tennis leagues are very active. Croquet was reintroduced to Onwentsia in 2014 and pickleball was added in 2018.
Winter sports are extraordinarily vibrant. There are two indoor tennis courts and three outdoor paddle courts. The raquets facilities are constantly in use, with paddle leagues active under lights into the evenings. Onwentsia also has two singles squash courts and two doubles squash courts. The Club served as the host club for the 2015 World Squash Doubles Championships and also hosted the Lapham / Grant Squash Tournament in 2018, which was the tournament's first visit to the Chigcago area.

Service Manager
Brief Job Description
The Service Manager leads the dining room service for the membership and their guests. The Service Manager assures a high standard of professional appearance, demeanor, hospitality and service provided by personnel as well as the cleanliness, organization and efficient management of the dining rooms and areas. Responsibilities include the leading, supervision and training of the dinng room staff and managing the department within budgetary guidelines. The Service Manager is also responsible for the development and implementation of programs to incerease member participation and enhance member dining frequency. The Service Manager willl hire, lead, train and supervise subordinates to ensure the highest level of service and hospitaality for the membership and their guests, applying appropriate marketing principles to assue that the wants and needs of the members and their guests are consistently exceeded.
The Service Manager is expected to be the center of Memberhship Hospitality, representing himself / herself in an exceptionally appropriate manner at all times with each contituency of Club involvement includeing staff, members, guests, vendors and within the greater community at large. The Service Manager is the primary coordinator for service levels in all areas of the Clubhouse and outdoor dining areas, including food, beverage, and locker room operations.
Candidate Qualifications
The Service Manager must be energetic, outgoing, genuine, personable, and possess the neceassary emotional intelligence for the job. He / she will be sincerely engaged with the membership regularly. Visitility, along with the genuine enjoyment of building member relationships and being in an active and social environment are critical attributes.
The Service Manager must be highly proficient in their time management stills with a keen focus on proper planning. The Service Manager will have a proven track record of developing and implementing service standards and training programs across multiple departments. Previous experience in managing a workd-class dining and event program as well as the ability to manage all areas of point-of-sale technology are critical to the success of this position.
Educational Requirements
College graduate preferrd. Extensive experience in leading a high quality hospitality program in Clubs is highly valued.
