ABOUT THE SPRING LAKE BATH & TENNIS CLUB:

The Spring Lake Bath & Tennis Club (B&T) is located in Spring Lake, New Jersey. Located adjacent to the beautiful Spring Lake beach and boardwalk, the club is one of the most unique venues of its kind. The B&T is a distinguished private club, which has been in operation since 1898 providing exceptional services to members, their families and guests. The club boasts spectacular recreational facilities including ten Har-Tru tennis courts, and several beautiful pools. Clubhouse facilities include a ballroom, grill room, poolside dining, snack bar and several bar areas. 

The active social and entertainment season at the B&T is complete with weekend gala dinner dances, poolside music and deck parties. The sports season is complete with professional swim and tennis instruction. There are four seasons at the B&T. The summer season is the busiest with member usage for roughly 12 weeks, two shoulder seasons used primarily for private parties (weddings), and the winter months are reserved for preventive club maintenance and capital projects.

Club is open 7 days per week, 8 months per year.

Tennis Program Manager (Coordinator) 

SUMMARY: 

The Tennis Program Manager will be responsible for creating an excellent member experience for our tennis programming this season. The manager will support the club’s goals to increase tennis participation and overall satisfaction among members. Reporting to the Director of Tennis, the Manager will have a wide range of responsibilities (communications, merchandising, online reservation system and more) and be encouraged to identify program and process improvements. 

MAIN DUTIES/FUNCTIONS: 

● Deliver a high level of customer service by establishing a courteous, respectful and helpful relationship with all members, head professionals & assistants 

● Promote tennis activities by developing detailed communications plan for each program (junior, women’s leagues, clinics, etc.) and executing them across club channels (web, apps)

● Encourage participation among adult and junior members by building relationships with members and advising them on ways to participate - from junior programs to lessons, clinics, mixers and tournaments; will have to be fully knowledgeable of club’s tennis offerings 

● Serve as the head manager for the ProShop which is the hub of tennis activity for the entire club; oversee tennis reservations, handle member inquiries (e.g., club policies, billing) and requests, oversee merchandise sales and inventory, and more. Plus, supervise pro shop organization and orderliness, building repair & maintenance issues. 

● Implement the roll out and day-to-day management of the tennis online reservation system from sign-ups to push notifications, which will require the ProShop manager to be well trained on the platform, as well as train fellow staff and members. 

● Support the Direct of Tennis in tennis programming (review weekly plans; provide evaluation reports for junior programs), coordinate staff meetings and facilitate communications among staff, follow up with members as needed, etc. 

● Pull weekly reports to review and monitor program participation, ProShop sales, etc., and make recommendations that support overall club goals 

● Help with billing processes, working closely with accounting department

● Manage pro shop assistants and train them to be customer-service driven

Candidate Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS 

● The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills with experience in the tennis industry or private clubs; open to other backgrounds that require a high degree of customer service - e.g., retail, education. Candidate should have a successful track record of measuring improvements in customer satisfaction, facilitating positive interactions among customers, and troubleshooting and resolving customer issues in timely and successful manner 

● Strong communications skills will be critical for this role. The individual will be responsible for developing multiple communications - email, web, push notifications, and more. Verbal communications will be imperative for interacting with members on a daily basis by phone, email or in-person. PC skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint are expected. 

● The individual should be adept and comfortable with implementing and managing digital platforms and systems - online reservation systems, point-of-sales platforms, etc. If a candidate does not have experience with club systems, then the individual must demonstrate a high-level degree of experience working with digital platforms. 

● Collaboration will be key. The ideal candidate will work closely with a variety of stakeholders (Director of Tennis, ProShop staffing, Tennis Committee co-chairs, members, club management) to coordinate plans and communications throughout the entire season. Candidate must have experience in creating an open and approachable work environment for all stakeholders 

● Candidate must be proactive - willing to recommend and implement new and better ways to do things without being asked 

● Overall candidate must be diligent, resourceful, a quick learner and a positive force with a can-do attitude and comfortable working in a deadline-oriented environment. 

● Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of days, weekends, and holidays required. 

● Ideal candidates will have a passion for and/or interest in tennis. However this shouldn’t prevent top candidates from applying if they’ve never watched a match or picked up a racquet. If you have excellent customer service skills and are driven and willing to learn, we’ll teach you the game.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 

● Work Schedule: 5-6 days (including a minimum of 1 weekend day) per week from Memorial Day Weekend - Labor Day Weekend Approximately 12-15 weeks but flexible depending on availability 

● Hours: TBD (may vary) 

● Hourly Rate: TBD hourly salary paid on weekly payroll (Benefits not included)
