The BMI Wine and Food Experience will take place in Napa, California the week of September 23-26. The four-day program will begin with two days of education and instruction at the Culinary Institute of America‚Äôs (CIA) Copia Campus, located in downtown Napa, and wineries located in Napa.

Education and Wine Tours: On Monday and Tuesday, September 23-24, attendees will work along CIA instructors in the teaching kitchens, covering such topics as Wine Pairing 101, Food and Wine Pairing, Strategies for Plant Forward Menus, Hands-on Culinary Experience which includes a unique format of preparing foods to pair with wines, course by course, tasting and evaluating the process, as you prepare your lunch for that day. There will also be a tour of the CIA garden, along with a Taste Around the World, which is an exploration of lesser-known wine regions.

The second day of education at the CIA will include Food and Wine Pairing: Trending Global Cuisines, again, a hands-on format where attendees will prepare dishes to be paired with wines that will be poured for the group to enjoy at lunch. The afternoon will also include a lecture on Mastering Wine as a professional.

The third and fourth day of the program will be touring wineries in and around the Napa Valley region with tastings, tours, and educational presentation throughout the two days. Lunches will be provided on these two days, as well as a group dinner on Wednesday, September 25.

The program will end approximately 3:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, September 26. Attendees should make return flights for late Thursday evening or Friday morning.

Registration: The cost for the program is $2,550 for CMAA members, and $ 3,050 for non-members. Attendance will be limited to the first 40 registrants. Thirty CMI Education Credits will be awarded

Attendee Information 

  • Air Travel: Attendees should plan to fly into and out of either San Francisco International Airport, or Oakland International Airport. Rental cars recommended as it is approximately 50 miles from the airports to the town of Napa.
  • Hotel: A room block is available at Napa Valley Marriott Hotel and Spa in downtown Napa.
  • Meals: Four lunches and one dinner included in the tuition.
  • Transportation: Bus transportation will be provided on Wednesday and Thursday of the week. Transportation is the responsibility of individuals on Monday and Tuesday for classes at the CIA Copia Campus.
