John P. Dorman, CCM

John P. Dorman, CCM (Certified Club Manager), General Manager of The University Club in New York, NY, was re-elected to the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) Board of Directors at its 2022 World Conference and Club Business Expo, held in San Diego, CA. He was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2021 and has been re-elected to serve for a one-year term.

Dorman has served as the General Manager of The University Club since 1997. Prior to that appointment, he served as the Assistant to the General Manager at RIHGA Royal Hotel from 1996 to 1997, as the Food & Beverage Director and General Manager of Halcyon Restaurant Division at RIHGA Royal Hotel from 1990 to 1996, as the Director of Food & Beverage at the Park Lane Hotel from 1989 to 1990, and as the Executive Chef/Director of Food & Beverage at the Regency Hotel from 1984 to 1989.

Dorman first joined CMAA in 1997 and earned his CCM designation in 2012. He has served on many national committees including the Communications, Credentials, Technology, and Career Services Committees. He was also a member of the CMAA Fellows Task Force and the Fellows Nominating Committee. In 2022, Dorman will serve as the Co-Chair of the Chapter Relations Committee.

On the chapter level, Dorman has been an active member of the City of New York Chapter, serving on the Board, in Officer Positions and finally as Chapter President from 2012 to 2015 and on multiple Chapter committees.    

As a CMAA Board member, Dorman will collaborate with the membership, National Committees and Task Forces, Partners, and the National Headquarters team, to advance the profession and the greater club industry.
