2022 CMAA Chairman

Mitchell S. Platt, MCM, CCE

Mitchell S. Platt, MCM (Master Club Manager), CCE (Certified Chief Executive), General Manager of the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC, was elected the Chairman of the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) Board of Directors at its 2022 World Conference and Club Business Expo, held in San Diego, CA, in February. He was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2016.

Platt has served as the General Manager of Cosmos Club since 2013. Prior to Cosmos Club, he served as the General Manager at Woodholme Country Club in Pikesville, MD from 1993 to 2013.

Platt joined CMAA in 1992. He has served on many national committees including the Audit, Budget & Finance, Bylaws, Career Services, Nominating, Research, Strategic Planning, and Technology Committees. In 2022, he will lead the Conference Committee.

Platt attained his MCM in 2012 with the publication of the MCM Monograph, Executive Tenure: Attributes of Club Manager Longevity, which was published in the International Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Administration. The MCM represents the highest level of achievement in CMAA’s Lifetime Professional Development Program, and only 22 club managers worldwide have attained this hallmark of professionalism.

On the chapter level, Platt has served the Greater Baltimore Chapter as President, Vice-President, Secretary, Membership Chair, Career Services Chair and Legislative Chair. Platt also served as President and Board Member of the Baltimore Club Foundation, the charitable arm of the Greater Baltimore Chapter.

Outside of CMAA, Platt has been equally active as a contributing member and Days of Taste volunteer for the American Institute of Wine and Food, Board Member for the Jewish Community Center, and former Board Member for the Babe Ruth Museum, Sports Legends at Camden Yards. He has served as a guest lecturer for the University of Delaware, Club Management Class and as a speaker at the American University Hotel Law Program.

As CMAA Chairman, Platt will lead the Board of Directors and work collaboratively with the membership, National Committees and Task Forces, Partners, and the National Headquarters team, to advance the profession and the greater club industry.
