JOB DESCRIPTION

The Cosmos Club, founded in 1878, is a private social club for men and women distinguished in science, literature and the arts or public service. Members come from virtually every profession that has anything to do with scholarship, creative genius or intellectual distinction.

Summary/Objective: 

Member Services assists members and guests by providing information and scheduling reservations for Club programs and services in accordance with Club standards.  This person is expected to greet all members and guests with a warm welcome, answer all phone calls, direct members and guests to their destinations within the Club, and provide business and concierge services to our Members. 

Essential Functions:

  • Accepts, processes and organizes reservations/cancellations for all dining reservations and club functions
  • Greets all members and guests
  • Provides schedule and other club information to members and guests
  • Fulfills guests’ requests (i.e. places phone calls, holds and send letters or packages, etc.)
  • Performs general office work such as word processing, filing, copying, and sending faxes
  • Prepares daily signs for Club events in accordance with each day’s posted events
  • Communicates to all department heads any updates and changes to the reservations for all meal service and club functions
  • Provides guest tours and offers suggestions to promote the club’s facilities for present and future events
  • Communicates all suggestions and problems to appropriate department
  • Monitors and maintains cleanliness of work area and the front lobby
  • Conducts ones self in a professional manner at all times as a “goodwill ambassador” of the Cosmos Club
  • Works on special projects as assigned

Candidate Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in administrative work preferred
  • Superb customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Flexible with varying schedules to reflect business needs
    • Hours include working weekends and special member events as deemed necessary
  • Must be detail oriented, communicate efficiently and effectively and work under pressure
