Brief Job Description

Summary/Objective: 

The Catering Intern will have the opportunity learn both the administrative/sales side as well as the event implementation and logistics side of the department.

Essential Functions:

  • Interacts closely with catering director, coordinator and banquet manager to ensure proper menus and special requirements are attained for each event
  • Assists with telephone calls and member inquiries as needed
  • Prepares menu cards and place cards as requested by members and guests
  • Handles member and staff inquiries regarding availability of dates for special events
  • Generates, distributes and receives contracts of members for booked functions
  • Maintains calendar and reservation log for all functions being booked within the Club
  • Assists members in making reservations for special functions and maintains accurate records of these reservations
  • Performs other clerical duties (copying, assembling, faxing, distributing, etc) of weekly packets, daily changes and posting of BEOs to all departments
  • Assists in typing BEOs for events as needed
  • Prepares daily guarantee sheet and change orders
  • Works closely with catering to perform monthly calendar audits
  • Works with Executive Chef to obtain club event menus on a weekly basis
  • Coordinates and distributes the weekly BEO packets when requested
  • Picks up and distributes catering mail
  • Works on special projects as assigned
  • Performs any reasonable task that is requested by the Catering Director, Catering Coordinator or  Food and Beverage Director

Candidate Qualifications

  • Previous experience in catering preferred
  • Superb customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem solver and team player
  • Flexible with varying schedules to reflect business needs (15-20 hours per week, January-May)
    • Hours include working weekends and special member events as deemed necessary
  • Must be detail oriented, communicate efficiently and effectively and work under pressure
