Brief Job Description

The Shinnecock Hills Golf Club Internship offers the successful applicant the opportunity to enhance and develop their academic knowledge through hands-on, operational, industry experience in a professional environment. Our program is designed to complement what has been learned in the classroom, and provide the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to supervise and lead employees in a five-star operation.

Food & Beverage

  • Serving A la Carte Luncheon, Dinner and Member / Non-Member Banquets, Golf Outings and Events.
  • Suggest menu items and wines; serve and clear tables, make drinks, daily cleanup.
  • Assisting with monthly Beverage Inventory, analyzing Inventory anomalies and searching for justification.
  • Banquet and event set-up.
  • Attending to the Halfway House
  • Assisting with purchasing, receiving, distributing and storage of supplies.
  • Handling member requests with diligence and grace.

Front Office

  • Registering guests and assisting members and guests with enquiries.
  • Assist in operational maintenance and updating the Jonas Management system.
  • Assist in operational maintenance and updating the Club Website and App.
  • Creating and executing member communications through mailings and emails.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Current, valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.

Educational Requirements

Undergraduate or Graduate level education in Hospitality or Club Management at a recognized University.

CMAA Student or Alumni Member.

Uniform Dress Code:

  • Dress shirts and khaki pants are supplied by The Club for lunch service. You are responsible for providing polished brown shoes and a brown belt for lunch service.
  • For dinner service: black dress pants, black shoes, 3 x white button down shirts, and a black belt.

Hourly Rate:

  • $13.00 (plus gratuities). Overtime: $19.50 per hour (plus gratuities)
  • A discretionary year-end bonus is available and is based on work performance, attitude, enthusiasm, positive member and employee feedback and attendance.

Work Hours:

  • 5 or 6 days per week, 35 hours on a quiet week. Up to 55 hours during the busiest weeks.

Accommodation Cost:

  • $0 charge to the employee. All rent and utilities are paid by the Club.

Accommodation:

  • Housing is onsite and free. The applicant will be required to pay a $200 refundable damage deposit prior to moving in. The applicant will share a newly renovated, ranch-style apartment on property, about a four-minute walk to work.
  • The accommodation includes a shared bedroom and bathroom, dining room, living room, full kitchen with a washer/dryer, flat screen TV with cable, and ultra-high speed Wi-Fi.
