Brief Job Description

OBC’s Internship Program is geared toward students who truly desire to make Club Management their career.  The Internship will help each student gain pertenant on the job experience within the Club hospitality field.

Types of Internships Offered...(Internships will be designed around the needs/desires of each Intern).

  • Positional:  This is an internship where a student is assigned to a club job or staff position for the duration of their employment.  The training for this position is focused, as the employee will serve in the same capacity for an extended period of time.  The benefit of this internship is valuable entry-level experience in an assigned area and the opportunity to demonstrate technical proficiency and member service skills.  Students well suited to this program might typically be a freshman or sophomore with little or no previous club experience.
  • Rotational:  This is an internship where a student rotates through the various departments within a club staying in each department for a short period of time.  The student may spend the entire internship rotating among departments or in a modified rotation internship they might rotate through the various departments and then settle into an assigned area for the remainder of the experience.  This training method helps expose a student to a wide range of areas within the private club environment, some of which they may or may not have seen previously.  Students best suited for this type of internship may be someone in their second or third year of college who has some basic understanding of club management and who has extensive experience in another hospitality area and who desires a more varied experience than the entry-level internship opportunity.
  • Customized:  This is an internship based on the Intern’s academic requirements as they may vary with different Hospitality Institutions.  The internship may also vary if the Intern has prior experience or brings new skills that can be incorporate into the Club.
