Brief Job Description
Desert Mountain Club’s Student Club Management Program provides hands-on experience throughout every department in order for our interns to experience all aspects of the Club. The program is customized to meet the individual needs and interests of our interns in order to best prepare them for a career in club or hospitality management.
Students will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with our CEO, Damon DiOrio. Students will also participate in regular meetings with the clubhouse managers and assistant clubhouse managers.
Students will participate in Management Training Sessions, Banquet & Catering Meetings and Food & Beverage Meetings. Students will gain a true understanding of the managerial experience as they are treated as part of the management team.
Candidate Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Enrolled in a 4-year Hospitality Program
• Exceptional communication skills
• Detail-oriented, honest, respectful, dedicated, motivated, ethical, caring, positive and enthusiastic
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-end, professional environment
• Good listener
• Desire to make every member experience special, thus creating “Raving Fans”
Educational Requirements
Interns will attend the CMAA Southwest Chapter meeting in Phoenix and surrounding areas. Interns will also tour other area clubs in order to network and benchmark on a variety of topics and interests.
ROTATION SCHEDULE
In order to receive a well-rounded experience, Desert Mountain Club makes an effort to expose our interns to as many different types of Club events as possible, including formal and casual dining, weddings, business functions, receptions, committee meetings, wine tastings, cooking classes, golf tournaments and tennis tournaments. Therefore, we require a minimum 10-week commitment to our Internship Program.
Internships can be completed throughout the year and include a rotation with all of our Club Department Heads in:
• Food & Beverage
• Culinary
• Catering
• Purchasing & Receiving
• Agronomy
• Marketing & Communications
• Accounting
• Human Resources
• Golf Pro Shops
• Tennis Pro Shop

Other Benefits
PAY AND HOURS
Interns will be paid on an hourly basis with overtime as applicable. Interns can anticipate working 30+ hours per week. Please note that the Club will provide educational costs for CMAA events.
CLOTHING AND UNIFORMS
Uniforms and name tags will be provided as required by the various departments of the Club, including shirts and formal uniforms for the clubhouse dining rooms.
Interns are responsible for providing pants, and comfortable shoes as required by each department.
HOUSING AND TRANSPORTATION
Based on availability, Desert Mountain will provide apartment housing with shared bedrooms for those coming from out of state. Rent is deducted from each paycheck and varies depending on term lease. During our winter season (October through May) vanpool transportation is provided between the employee housing and Desert Mountain. The rate is deducted from each paycheck.
SCHOOL CREDIT
Desert Mountain Club will make every effort to accommodate any college or university requirements for school credit. Please check with your school to learn the specific requirements for internships.
