Indian Harbor Yacht Clubs' internship program will provide a hands-on experience into understanding the necessary tools, procedures and work ethic needed to be successful in a private club. This position will be centered around supervising the Dingin Room, Sunfish Bar and occasionaly private events with direction from the Food and Beverage Director and Catering Director.
Opportunities will be based upon prior experience and the level of each individual’s progression. The program will also require the intern to complete a project assigned to them by their direct supervisor. The project scope will vary depending on internship customization, to ensure it is best suited to the individual and Club. The projects may include such topics as creating incentive programs, revising training manuals, developing/revising service standards etc.
Candidates should be actively pursuing a degree in hospitality management and have an interest in private clubs. All candidates should show an eagerness to learn, have a positive attitude, be hard working, trustworthy and honest. Candidates will need to possess excellent communication and organization skills, be detailed oriented and enthusiastic, and have the ability to multi-task. Candidates must be willing to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, and work to be part of a team environment. Supervisory candidates should have at least two summers of hospitality experience; preferably with clubs.
