Special Club Features

The Ausable Club is a 125+ year old private club located in the heart of the High Peaks Region of the Adirondack Mountains in northern New York. Located in the hamlet of St. Huberts, the club is approximately 20 minutes from Lake Placid, home of the 1932 & 1980 Winter Olympic Games; 2 hours from Albany, Montreal and Burlington (VT) and 1 hour from Plattsburgh. The club is open to members from late-May to mid-October. We operate a full service historic clubhouse that includes guest rooms, cottages, restaurant (full kitchen and separate pastry operation), bar and catering operation. The Ausable Club also operates a golf course, tennis courts, lawn bowling and access to some of the premier hiking opportunities in the U.S. The club also offers its members two private lakes that are located in our private 7,000 acre forest preserve (Adirondack Mountain Reserve). Our membership is drawn to the Ausable Club for outdoor pursuits such as hiking, fly fishing, canoeing/paddling and spectacular mountain vistas.

Club is open 7 days per week, 6 months per year.

Brief Job Description

LEVEL II INTERNSHIP

Assist the Clubhouse Manager in supervising service personnel to ensure that member and guest satisfaction and presentation standards are consistently attained. Maintain order and cleanliness of dining areas. Supervise the banquet functions for the Club when the Clubhouse Manager is not available or assist the Clubhouse Manager during banquet functions.

Within the Food & Beverage concentration, interns will supervise in our front-of-house food operation. You will have the opportunity to see all aspects of F&B management including service, staff training, inventory management, staff management, operating procedures, and exposure to participating in projects such as menu development and program planning for concessions outlets and seasonal events. As an intern, you will utilize your member communication skills to increase service levels while learning the core
values that support our mission. Working closely with your hiring managers, you will gain invaluable exposure and experience within the private club industry.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Must be entering your Sophomore, Junior or Senior year Spring 2021 and Majoring/Minoring in Hospitality & Tourism, Food and Beverage, Travel & Tourism or related field
  • Seniors planning to graduate in May of 2021 will be strongly considered
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Proven leadership skills with an understanding of conflict resolution and problem solving
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively
  • Abide by appearance standards and be able to maintain hospitality standards for the assigned property
  • Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
  • Keyboarding skills and computer literacy

Educational Requirements

Candidates must be in good academic standing to be considered.
