Brief Job Description

The purpose of this internship is to mentor and sharpen hospitality skills and provide a hands-on experience within the world of hospitality management that cannot be learned in the classroom. He or she will have the opportunity to work in all facets of Food and Beverage including; Restaurant, Snack Bar, and Golf House Lounge. Millbrook Golf and Tennis’ Food and Beverage outlets operate from approximately Mother’s Day to Labor Day Weekend. 

The intern will concentrate on the operating processes of the F&B department. With a keen eye for detail, he or she will work closely with the Food and Beverage Manager in overseeing the F&B outlets during services, and analyzing processes thereafter.

As membership satisfaction is our priority, MGT is seeking an enthusiastic, and highly motivated hospitality or business student with experience and interest in hospitality management. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a driving daily desire to improve themselves, as well as their team. The ideal intern will have the ability to commit to the full time position starting April 26, 2021 and ending September 13, 2021.

Tasks & Duties

  • Assisting Food and Beverage Manager in the following:

    • Dining Room & Event Operations, including set up of tables, chairs, settings

    • Assist in pre-shift meetings

    • Inventory Management

    • Food & Beverage Programming

    • Reservation Management

    • Monitor appearance, upkeep, and organization of all F&B outlets

    • Input and maintain items and prices in POS system

    • Assist in recruiting, selecting, and scheduling of staff

    • Maintain member satisfaction via inquiries of concern by providing solutions

    • Daily Report Analyzation

    • The primary duty is assisting in management of operations, however this position at times may be required to assist in various roles within Food and Beverage

Candidate Qualifications

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies, and Expectations

  • Helps provide MGT club members with exceptional service through a high level of member contact

  • Must possess a practical knowledge of food and beverage menu planning

  • Must possess a fundamental knowledge of alcohol, specifically wine

  • Informative on all Club events, parties, and reservations that may affect the FB operation

  • Strong interpersonal skills including: empathy, self-awareness, integrity, honesty

  • Willingness to learn, follow and enforce the Club’s policies, systems, and procedures

  • Proactively hands-on and displays leadership qualities

  • Commitment to work weekends and holidays

  • Extremely detail-oriented

  • Problem solver with a calm demeanor

  • Communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time. Climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, and twist or reach

  • Push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds. 

  • Work in a sometimes hot and always fast-paced environment.

Educational Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required

  • Four-year college degree in Hospitality or Management is preferred

  • Three years of restaurant experience in fine dining

  • Experience in resolving member/guest service issues
