Special Club Features

The Petroleum Club of Shreveport was founded in 1950 by a group of oil industry employees who believed working people in the oil industry needed a place downtown where they could enjoy meals together.  Today, the Petroleum Club rivals private clubs throughout the southwest with its central location and breathtakiing views of the city, outstanding food, meticulous service and the spirit of congeniality and hospitality.  Although Shreveport's economy was once heavily dependent on petroleum, the memberhip at the Petroleum Club of Shreveport reflects the diversity.of the changing economy.  

Club is open 6 days per week, 12 months per year.

Assistant Club Manager/Special Events Coordinator

Brief Job Description

The Assistant Club Manager/Special Events Coordinator is a key member of the Club's management team, directly overseeing the dining room operations including food and beverage, department managers, and front of the house staff.  The ACM is responsible for the planning and execution of all banquets and special events.  As a highly visible presence, the ACM must be an exceptional communicator, have excellent personal interactive skills, and have the ability to make members and their guests feel like they are being taken care of, consistently ensuring positive experiences that exceed expectations.  Must be able to communicate the expectations to the staff and positively motivate them to understand and execute those expectations. 

Works closely with the General Manager and is responsible for the operation of all aspects of the Club in the absence of the General Manager and performs specific tasks as requested.  

Candidate Qualifications

The successful Assistant Club Manager/Special Events Coordinator will demonstrate: 

  • Strong F&B knowledge and a proven track record of providing exceptional hospitality services. 
  • Have a thorough knowledge of a wide variety of service styles including fine dining
  • In depth knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits
  • Excellent communication skills, exuding energy and creativity. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Confidence to remain calm and make sound decisions in dynamic situations.
  • Effective team building and leadership skills
  • Have experience in training, establishment of and adherence to standard operating procedure

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and embrace a positive, professional, and energized culture for the employees that puts special emphasis on member engagement and memorable experiences
  • Maintain positive member engagement through high visibility, name recognition, and attentive hospitality
  • Greet guests and maintain consistency of service
  • Handle member and guest complaints and advise the General Manager about appropriate and corrective actions taken
  • Oversee hiring, training, coaching, and developing staff
  • Direct and supervise the work and tasks of assigned department managers
  • Monitor and oversee the ordering and receiving of all bar beverages
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of training programs for incoming employees
  • Ensure safety and sanitation standards are consistently met

Special Events:

  • Planning special events for all members and guests
  • Respond to inquiries in an accurate and timely manner
  • Work hand in hand with the client and department manager to plan food and beverage menus, service of food and beverages, room arrangements, and event timelines
  • Work with the department manager and Executive Chef on event set up, execution, and break down of special events. 

Educational Requirements

A degree with a major in hospitality or business management or a combination of related education and experience.
