Chapter of the Year Winners Announced at Conference

Outstanding chapters were honored at CMAA’s World Conference & Club Business Expo in Las Vegas, NV. The Chapter of the Year (COY) award competition recognizes outstanding work, participation, and accomplishments by CMAA Chapters. Many chapters worked hard to fill the top spots, a fact that was reflected in the extremely close races in each of the chapter size categories. Top honors went to:

Small Chapters:
First Place: Oregon Chapter
Second Place: Nebraska Chapter
Third Place: Utah Chapter

Medium Chapters:
First Place: Wisconsin Badger Chapter
Second Place: Pittsburgh Chapter
Third Place: Upper Midwest Chapter

Large Chapters:
First Place: Florida Chapter
Second Place: Golden State Chapter
Third Place: Greater Chicago Chapter

Congratulations to these chapters on this time-honored achievement. To reward the winning Chapters’ efforts, each first-place Chapter is eligible to receive a $3,000 Education Grant; second-place Chapters are eligible to receive $2,000 Education Grant; and third-place Chapters are eligible to receive a $1,000 Education Grant, all sponsored by The Club Foundation.

Impressive accomplishments were abundant—all CMAA members should be proud of the level of excellence that exists within the Association’s chapter system. Thank you to Chapter of the Year Co-Chairs Joanna Brewer, Erica Gilly, CCM, and Joe Nicaj and the panel of judges: Caitlin English, CCM, Ben Lorenzen, CCM, Jeffrey Orkus, CCM, Geoffrey Piva, CCM, Jorge Rivera, CCM, Robert Tibbetts, CCM, and Gena Zak.

Earn a $100 Amazon Gift Card: Participate in the Club Employee Demographic Assessment

The Club Management Association of America designed the Club Employee Demographic Assessment (CEDA) to help evaluate the degree to which your club follows leading practices in diversity and inclusion throughout your workforce. CEDA represents a comprehensive and confidential tool for clubs to assess and benchmark themselves against other clubs. The Club Foundation and CMAA have collaborated on a survey that will provide valuable information on the second year of a journey toward understanding the demographics related to the private club employees. This survey takes about 10-15 minutes and only needs one submission per club. Find out more information about the project and to participate.

To encourage participation, we are offering a $100 Amazon gift card to 10 clubs that complete our survey by April 12. Ten clubs will be selected randomly after the deadline and the gift cards will be delivered via email. To be eligible for the gift card drawing, your club must complete all the necessary sections. If selected, your club will be emailed the $100 Amazon eGift card code that can be used towards your staff.

Diversity in the workplace means employing people of different ages, genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds, and education levels. Through the four components of CEDA (Workplace, Workforce, Marketplace, Supplier & Community), we hope to help each club identify their own areas of improvement, build, and update practices, and implement positive changes in their day-to-day operations.

Please take a moment to participate and help your club take steps toward adding value to your staff. Questions? Contact Amilcar Davy, Director, Research Initiatives.
