Your Recruiting Q&A: The Benefits of Outsourced Recruiting
Check out this series of Q&As from CMAA’s recent webinar, “Talent Acquisition: 13 Secrets to Recruiting and Retaining Top Talent," presented by Jill Chapman, Senior Performance Consultant, at Insperity.

Q: How can my club benefit from using an outsourced recruiting agency for hiring?

Having a recruiting strategy is a great first step to attracting the candidates you’re looking for, but have you tailored your strategy based on the audience you’re looking to capture? Many companies who employ both salaried and hourly positions don’t think they need a separate recruiting methodology to attract qualified applicants but since the audience’s needs are different, your recruiting strategy needs to be too.

The use of outsourcing can allow a club to hire quickly or to handle the constant inflow of staff. Outsourcing your recruiting is a good option if you have limited HR resources. For instance, if you just have one HR specialist who is wearing multiple hats at all times, it’s unlikely that he or she is an expert in recruiting. Expert recruiters know what is happening with the job market, where to look for talent and can deliver candidates to fit your needs. A recruiting service can identify, screen, interview, and present the very best candidates for your consideration, without pulling you away from your club.

If you have retained a recruiting agency, dedicated recruiters are available when you need them. They should be familiar with your organization and culture and have a good understanding of your needs. Likewise, they’ll protect your employer brand and maintain good communication with applicants by using sophisticated applicant tracking tools. There are numerous benefits to outsourcing your recruiting, but there is a cost associated with outsourcing. Some agencies charge between 20 to 30 percent of the salary of each employee placed. Insperity, however, offers a flat fee based on the complexity of the candidate search—whether you need to hire one employee or a team of one hundred!

The archive of the entire webinar is now available on CMAA University under the Resource Library carousel, CMAA Research and Survey Reports category, and Recruiting Hourly Employees Industry Survey.

We hope you learned some tips to improving recruiting techniques and organizing your workforce so that you are in a better position to exceed your club's goals. To help put those tips into practice, Insperity is providing the complimentary workbook on which the presentation was based. To obtain this workbook or if you have any questions from the webinar, would like more information about how Insperity can help you from the first stages of recruitment to long-term employee retention, or how they can assist with all of your club’s HR needs through their new Workforce Administration™ solution, please contact 866-476-8597 or solutions@insperity.com.

The End of the Road for DOL’s Persuader Rule
The Department of Labor has officially rescinded the 2016 Persuader Rule. The Persuader Rule would have required full public disclosure on the use of labor relations consultants by employers. In short, the rule required employers and their hired consultants to report when the consultants directly persuade workers or when the consultants participate in four indirect categories in relation to labor organization or disputes. The Persuader rule was first introduced in 2011, but has been on hold since 2014. Read more.
