Membership Types

Professional Member

An individual who is currently employed by a club, and was not a former CMAA Student member, is eligible to apply for CMAA Professional membership.

Membership in CMAA is individual—it belongs to the member, not the club.
CMAA memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.
The first-year Professional membership rate [or 50 percent discount if joining between April 1 and August 31] is collected upon application; local Chapter dues, based on the club’s geographic location, is also collected.
- CMAA National membership joining/renewal fees use a step system: year one is $500, year two is $650, and year three and on is at the prevailing national renewal rate (all fees subject to change).
- Chapter membership rates and fees remain at the discretion of each Chapter and all renewals will be billed separately.
Professional members in good standing are eligible to vote and hold elected office.

National memberships renew annually, not based by member join date. National membership renewal statements are distributed each August and payments are due by November 1. Chapter dues renew separately and are distributed directly from the local Chapter office. Both National and Chapter dues must be current to maintain an active CMAA membership.

Join as a Professional Member

Alumnus Member

An individual who is currently employed by a club, and is or was a CMAA Student member, is eligible to apply for CMAA Alumnus membership.

Membership in CMAA is individual—it belongs to the member, not the club.
CMAA memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.
The first-year Alumnus membership rate (discounted if joining between April 1 and August 31) is collected upon application; local Chapter dues, based on the club’s geographic location, is also collected.
- The national Alumnus membership rate is 50 percent of the current national Professional membership rate.
- Alumnus membership is applicable only for two years, after which it will be automatically assigned to Professional membership at the prevailing renewal rate.
- Chapter membership rates and fees remain at the discretion of each Chapter and all renewals will be billed separately.
Alumnus membership is a Professional classification; the two years (max) as an Alumnus member in good standing will count toward the six-year CMAA membership requirement for the Certified Club Manager (CCM) exam.
Alumnus members in good standing are eligible to vote and hold elected office.

Faculty Member

An individual who is an active faculty member/instructor of a hospitality or related program at an accredited college, university, or school is eligible to apply for CMAA Faculty membership.

Membership in CMAA is individual – it belongs to the member, not the college/university.
CMAA memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Any applicable joining fees will be collected upon application; local Chapter dues, based on the school’s geographic location, are also collected.
Faculty members are not eligible to vote or hold elected office.

National memberships renew annually, not based on member join date. National membership renewal statements are distributed in August and payments are due by November 1. Chapter dues will renew separately from National renewals and will come directly from the local Chapter office. Both National and Chapter dues must be current to maintain an active CMAA membership.

Student Member

An individual who is enrolled at an accredited college, university, or school for undergraduate or graduate studies is eligible to apply for Student membership.

Membership in CMAA is individual – it belongs to the member, not the college/university.
CMAA memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Applicable CMAA Student membership fees will be collected upon application.
Student members are not eligible to vote on Association affairs; members in good standing may hold elected office for their Student Chapter of record.

Former Member

Membership Reinstatement

CMAA conducts its annual membership reconciliation/dropped for non-payment process after December 31 of the given year. CMAA memberships that have lapsed due to non-payment may be reinstated without penalty within one year of the membership expiration date. Delinquent national memberships may be reinstated by paying the notice located in the individual’s online CMAA account under “my invoices”. This online statement will remain available until March 31. On or after April 1, please contact the Membership Team in order to reinstate a CMAA membership.

Rejoin CMAA/Former Members

Based on CMAA membership eligibility requirements, former members may rejoin the Association. Upon application, individuals will pay both National and Chapter membership fees. Former members will retain their original membership number, any credits earned as a prior member, as well as prior years of membership. Please note that a new membership join date is established upon rejoining.
