Community Roundtables: Connecting Professionals Who "Get It"
Wisconsin Badger Chapter
Entry Details
The Chapter created a quarterly Community Roundtable series to provide focused peer connection, idea sharing, and professional development for club professionals in similar roles.
The series includes dedicated discussions for Controllers, GMs, Mid-Managers, and Membership, Marketing, and Communications professionals. Each roundtable focuses on the unique challenges and opportunities of its audience. General Manager discussions address timely industry topics and issues brought forward by participants. Controller Roundtables provide role-specific financial, accounting, and tax education. Membership/Marketing/Communications Roundtables bring together club professionals and educators to share ideas and proven practices.
In 2026, the Chapter expanded the initiative to include Mid-Manager Roundtables, offering virtual and in-person discussion opportunities, including a November session followed by a networking reception.
This initiative has enhanced the chapter by strengthening connections across club departments, delivering practical and timely education, supporting peer-to-peer problem-solving, and introducing more club professionals to the value of CMAA and chapter involvement.
Implementation
The chapter implemented quarterly roundtables for Controllers, General Managers, Mid-Managers, and Membership, Marketing, and Communications professionals. Sessions are offered in virtual and in-person formats, with topics shaped by current industry issues and participant needs.
Controller Roundtables are sponsored and moderated by RPB CPAs, a chapter Platinum Partner with club accounting and tax expertise. These sessions have been especially valuable for new Controllers entering the club industry, providing practical education on club tax law and meaningful peer connections.
Participation is encouraged through targeted email outreach, referrals from General Managers, the chapter website, mobile app, and LinkedIn page. The response has been very positive, with members and non-members valuing the opportunity to share ideas and connect with peers who understand the specific challenges of their roles.
