Chapter Idea Fair

District Day of Service

Ohio Valley Chapter

Entry Details

The Ohio Valley Chapter expanded its Feeding America partnership by introducing district-led “Days of Service,” combining a consistent annual donation with hands-on volunteerism. This initiative has strengthened the chapter’s culture of service by connecting members locally while uniting the chapter across four states. Members experienced camaraderie and pride by working side-by-side to support food banks in their own communities, while also aligning with a shared chapter-wide cause. The program has enhanced visibility in local communities, deepened member engagement at the district level, and reinforced OVC’s commitment to leadership through service.

Implementation

The program was introduced at the Winter Meeting and promoted through chapter emails, district director outreach, and the monthly newsletter. District Directors coordinated directly with local Feeding America food banks to schedule volunteer opportunities, communicated details to their members, and led the service activities. Members gathered to pack and distribute food, building connections with one another while giving back to their communities. The initiative has been met with enthusiasm, with members highlighting the camaraderie created through shared service and pride in contributing to a broader impact. OVC has committed to sustaining this partnership and annual cycle of district service into future years, ensuring that community outreach remains a core part of the chapter’s identity.
