Doing Good-Doing Good in Person: Community Outreach

Virginias Chapter

Entry Details

Post Pandemic, the Virginias Chapter continued special projects, and giving, but had in a sense halted most in person community outreach that once was. The Board was determined to get the Chapter back out in the community in person. Volunteer slots were reserved and extended to Chapter members to volunteer in person at FeedMore in Richmond, VA and also at the Southeastern VA Foodbank in Norfolk, VA. This was organized in the Fall and Spring at each location simultaneously.

Implementation

The concept of physically helping was welcomed by our Chapter. Managers filled the slots and served our communities across the Commonwealth by stocking dry goods, washing vegetables and preparing foods. The Chapter renewed its commitment to serving the community and will continue this service into the next year. Managers were humbled by the need and severity of hunger in VA. In addition to doing good, managers were able to engage with one another and share in their profession.
