Chapter Idea Fair
Gamifying Vendor Engagement
Ohio Valley Chapter
Entry Details
The Ohio Valley Chapter's annual vendor show is a key driver of new ideas and revenue, but sustaining meaningful engagement between members and vendors has been an ongoing challenge. To address it, the chapter introduced a raffle tied to a vendor "map," rewarding members who visit and connect with all 65 of the show's vendors. This simple, low-cost mechanic turned passive attendance into genuine conversation, strengthening member-vendor relationships while directly supporting chapter revenue. The result is measurable: at least half of the 65 vendors return the following year, giving the chapter a stable, engaged partner base and protecting a vital source of chapter income.
Implementation
At the vendor show, each member received a "map" of the 65 participating vendors and was entered into a raffle once they completed it by visiting every booth. This gave members a structured reason to engage with vendors they might otherwise pass by, and it gave vendors substantive conversations in return. The raffle is self-funding, with prizes donated by OVC partners and vendors that range from TVs and trips to food-and-beverage packages and professional services, which gives vendors one more reason to participate. The approach has been well received by members and vendors alike, and its success shows in a vendor return rate of at least 50% year over year, demonstrating that a small, easily repeatable idea can produce a durable impact on partner retention and chapter revenue.
