Chapter Idea Fair

Midwest Regional Education Forum

Upper Midwest Chapter

Entry Details

The goal of the Midwest Regional Education Forum is to mirror CMAA’s objectives. Those objectives of CMAA & our Chapters are to promote relationships between Club management professionals and other similar professions; to encourage the education and advancement of members; and to provide the resources needed for efficient and successful Club operations. The forum on March 19-21, 2023 checked all the boxes:

  • Encourage the education & advancement of members.
  • Promote relationships between club management professionals & other similar professions.
  • Provide the resources needed for efficient and successful Club operations.

Since the forum’s inception in the '90s it has been referred to as a Mini WORLD CONFERENCE. The nearly 100 attendees all agreed that was the case again in 2023 by their ratings.

Implementation

The Midwest Regional Education Forum location is rotated between the Upper Midwest, Wisconsin-Badger and the Great Chicago CMAA chapters in alternating years.  2023 was the Upper Midwest chapters turn to host.  If the forum was to live up to its billing as a Mini WORLD CONFERENCE then the first speaker had to represent CMAA’s leadership - Board Chair Michael Seabrook-CCM, CCE presented the opening keynote.  Over the course of the forum the speakers came from the CMAA community as well as nationally recognized club and hospitality industry leaders and professionals.  Many of those speakers have been speakers at the WORLD CONFERENCE.  The aggregate rating of all speakers was 92% above average to excellent.   When it came to fostering professional development, education and networking a very unique opening venue was chosen – TOPGOLF.  Education during the opening day initial 3+ hours was followed by the attendees experiencing TOPGOLF’s signature offering – golf and provided the ultimate networking platform.  The venue for the remaining day and a half of the forum was a formidable chapter member club, the Bearpath Golf & Country Club.
