ROAD TRIP-2026 Chapter F&B Field Trip

Virginias Chapter

Entry Details

Grain to Glass: A Summer Richmond-Area Food and Beverage Field Trip
Chapter members are invited to enjoy an exclusive, thoughtfully designed afternoon showcasing the craftsmanship behind three of the Richmond area’s most respected beverage producers.

The experience begins with lunch at The Commonwealth Club before we ride on a chartered coach for private tours and guided tastings at Cirrus Vodka, Black Heath Meadery, and Fine Creek Brewing Company —each offering a distinct perspective on the high-level beverage production that is taking place right here in Virginia. Participants will gain insight into production techniques, ingredient sourcing, and the creative vision that defines each establishment.

The day concludes with a happy hour reception at beautiful Fine Creek Brewing Company, providing an opportunity to unwind and connect with fellow members.

This Experience Includes:
• Hosted luncheon
• Private tours and curated tastings at three craft producers
• Comfortable round-trip transportation
• Closing happy hour reception

Additional beverages beyond scheduled tastings will be available for individual purchase.

Space is limited to ensure a personalized experience.  Due to this multi-faceted experience, all reservations must be received by Friday July 3!
Students welcome – CMAA guidelines do not allow student drinking, even if over 21, but our vendors will have non-alcoholic options.  Come for the education!

Members are invited to reserve early and join us for an engaging afternoon of craftsmanship, discovery, networking and socializing.

Implementation

The Education Committee engaged the Executive Chef of The Commonwealth Club, host to our 2026 F&B July education. With creativity and enthusiasm, Kaui Stryhn developed the concept of taking the Chapter on the road to experience Virginia Food and Beverage. Logistically, the timing was too difficult to experience his first idea, but he continued to develop educational stops that were close enough together to experience as a Chapter with home base beginning at our host club, The Commonwealth Club in downtown Richmond. This education was sold out drawing members from the front of the house to the back of the house and many who had never experienced CMAA education before. It created a sense of togetherness, camaraderie and connection-all learning and experiencing different aspects of F&B. This event was so successful that the Board and Education Committee are engaging the Executive Chef and culinary teams from our 2027 host to actively contribute to the planning of our F&B Education for the Chapter. Our first road trip, a full bus, a fun and engaging education! The success of this event can also be measured in that the Chapter received a new member following and a new club to enter in our Annual Golf Tournament. The excitement carried over to our August Tournament with 104 players in our tournament. Our goal is 82!
